Our children visited on the lanai and cracked fresh macadamia nuts. Easy location to beaches, restaraunts, and sunny Kona weather. Kurt's family home surpasses any destination hotel or resort. We longed for it after moving on to other parts of the island. 5 stars.,

I didn't want to leave.and look fo - The rooms were very clean, nicely decorated and bed was comfortable. Location was great, we didn't realize how close the Inn was to the road to Hana, this was a great plus. Sandy was a great host and it was nice to meet other travellers staying at the Inn. Side note - unlike most hotels it was very very dark and quiet at night, this made for a restful night's sleep!

  The location was great for access to Volcano National Park. The tour of the on-site lava tube was great. The setting was beautiful. Breakfast first day seemed kind of limited for kids but realized Shannon thought is was for two adults. Once she found out I was traveling with my daughter she put out "kid-friendly" options.   Upon arriving, we parked in the spot labeled Pineapple. Toby was working in his "man cave" and came out to greet us immediately. He showed us around the lower level facilities including the hoses to rinse off sand; the beach chairs, snorkel gear and coolers we could use for our stay (even sunscreen), and the outdoor shower and hot tub. Toby handed us over to Kirby :) and she showed us around the house - Toby and Kirby are superb hosts! Since they've lived in the area for decades, they have an intimate knowledge of the north short of Kauai, and of its residents -- chatting with them was a bit like being an insider! Toby's breakfasts are superb, and the home is beautiful, and supremely comfortable. The kitchen and living room were always open to guests and we took full advantage of it.   EVERYTHING!! the cottage was extremely quaint, peaceful and private. it felt very homey and comfortable. landscape surrounding the cottages was quite magical. though it's near the main road, it wasn't noisy. the gardens were lush and green.   The Inn was surprisingly exciting, different, homely and very memorable. We felt we were really in Hawaii, not just another hotel or resort. Irene was very interesting, warm and friendly. She was very generous with her time, information about the area and booked a lava walk tour for us. I was feeling ill the day I arrived from a week- long cold, and Irene made me ginger tea immediately. I felt so much better the next day. It's a motherly touch that a large resort cannot replicated (which I stayed at before arriving at Lava Tree). It's something so small as that that can change your entire vacation and make it bettter.   Another wonderful stay! Also this year I stayed 4 days in Garden Gate B&B. I fully confirm my previous reviews. An outstanding B&B. The owners, Steve and his wife Jeri, were very friendly and very helpfull giving advise on places to visit or dine and always willing to help you with your every need . Room was spacious, clean, comfortable - We stayed in two different rooms on two different nights. The first room was the cheap basic room. That one was tiny but had all the amenities we needed. The second room was the private studio downstairs and was amazing with a kitchen, living room, and great amenities. I believe the price difference isn't too great between the rooms so I def would suggest the studio if you plan on being in your room a lot. There was a lot of fresh food prepared for us: fruits, home baked cookie, yogurt... It is quasi in the jungle, you can feel, and hear the nature, no civilization noises at all like cars.   Stayed in the Deluxe Suite. Very large, comfortable room with an enormous bed and plenty of room to spread out. Included small kitchenette with small fridge, microwave and sink. Lenny is very nice, welcoming and helpful. Extremely quiet and relaxing environment. Simple breakfast with juice, cereal, fresh fruit and banana bread. If one is looking for quiet, comfort and solitude and - We stayed in the deluxe suit. It’s located in a beautiful quiet garden and close to the volcano park. We stayed for one night only, but sincerely hope to return for a longer stay. The owner is a very nice person who pays attention to the small details.

  Lovely breakfast with lots of fruit. There was always someone of the (very friendly) staff around whom we could bother with our questions. For $10 we could rent an underwater camera to take on our snorkelling tour - we even got a great shot of a sea-turtle! There was a ton of beach-gear that we could take with us on our excursions for no extra cos... vad folk säger » t. Working wi-fi, nice spa, etc. etc. Luxury-wise the Guesthouse is better than any hotel, with the additional bonus that you are one of only a few pa - Tanna, the host, is a lovely person. You can borrow whatever you want... (snorkling gear, DVDs, Picnic gear...) You can use the house like it's your own. There is planty of soaps, shampoos, bathtowels for the beach, beach umbrella, beach chair for use... If you need help for booking anything, just ask Tanna. She knows the island like a grown up. And the most important is that you can sit in a hot tub after a long day out... just heaven
