The staff is always the same and they, of course, know me by now and have seen me come with my child since he was born (is now 12 years old). The staff is helpful and professional.   Good location family run guest house. If you do not want to hear street noises ask for a room at the back. I would not recommend that you take the breakfast as it is not in the same block, it does not open till 10 or 10.30am and it is not worth the value for the money you pay - Euro 4.for a coffee and a toast.   Location superb - pedestrianised shopping strip right outside your door. Very safe area. Extremely helpful staff-thanks Mary and George for a great and comfortable stay. Rooms are bright, decently sized and everything works unlike some 4 star hotels I've stayed at. Fast Wi fi connection.   First of all, the location of the hostel is great, being located in the heart of Madrid, a few minutes away from Gran Via and all the cultural places. Also it is really easy to arrive from the airport. Second of all, the ratio quality-price was great taking into the consideration that my room was quite modern and I enjoyed the shower with hidromas... vad folk säger » sage. The room was very clean and quiet. Next, the staff was young, professional, very friendly and with good communication skills (they spoke English - The location of Hostal Gala is excellent, a 5 minute walk from Gran Via and Puerto Del Sol. The staff are super welcoming and friendly, always ready to help and advise on where to go and what to do. The hostal is also kept very clean and the cleaning staff are very friendly and helpful as well. Although the rooms do not have safe deposit boxes, security and leaving passports/money behind was never a cause for concern. This is a place I would recommend and stay at again!

  location is brilliant. so easy to explore the city. everything within walking distance, even metro station. room was good + good value for money. loved the cultural vibe of Madrid. this was our first day in Europe/Spain & started off terribly, but both Raul & Reuben were absolutely amazing! they could speak english and sorted out our probl... vad folk säger » ems with shuttle service who had ridden off with some of our bags. they helped us retrieve our lost luggage at airport. I cannot praise them highly en - Up to the moment I entered the hostal I didn't have great expectations. Once inside the room I felt very spanish and ready to conquer the world. Extremely cosy, warm, very clean and friendly, well located, close to Gran Via and therefore close to everything in Madrid the hostal offered us the best opportunity in Madrid for feeling excellent. For people willing to go to Madrid I would kindly suggest to have a very pleasant stay at hostal America.

  The location of the hotel - I was travelling with a suitcase and the hotel is literally just around the corner from a metro stop. The staff were very helpful - very centrally located for main attractions. - Amazing location, friendly staff who provided any assistance required regarding directions etc. Basic but comfortable room.

  The boss is very nice. If you can meet him, you can get help, but it's not always there at receiption. The location is very good, but it's not easy to find it. - Excellent location,nearest metro station is just a stone's throw away, full of restaurants in the neighborhood, walking distance to major places of interest.

  I just stayed for one night. Has a very central location and the room is correct. We stayed in a family room whit four beds and a bathroom. Next time in Madrid, i will come back! - The views are amazing, The location!, Nice water pressure

  We stayed here just one night here after our flight arrived in Madrid and we needed a hostel that was affordable and within walking distance to the train station for our early departure the next morning. It's not a fancy building on an attractive boulevard, but it's within a short walking distance to the train station, which is all - It's an hostal, not an hotel. Said that, everithing was really good: WiFi decent, clean room (they clean it every day) and the staff is very helpful. Position is very good: really close to atocha, to the retiro gardens, the Prado, the modern art museum.. And close to city centre as well. In case in the district there are too different bars/pubs..

  The host and her daughter are really kind people; however, their English skills are limited. I felt like I was staying with family. There is WiFi included so that's a big plus. The hostel overlooks a street with a few clubs/bars so it can get noisy at night. Keep in mind there are three shutters that you can close between your room and the noise o... vad folk säger » utside. This helps minimize the sound. Though I suggest ear plugs for any traveling since you never know how thin the walls might be. The hostel is ar - The host was really nice. Even though he can't speak English, he tried to explain everything and helped us to find some good place near by. The room was also quite large and comfortable for two people to stay. I would love to recommend this place to those who want to stay in Madrid!
