  This is a gem of a miniature castle/hotel. Javier, the proprietor and owner, embodies old world class. The hotel is on the edge of a very small medieval walled city mounted on a hill. You need a car t - We loved the friendly and helpful attention of the hosts - Javier & Rafael. They made us feel welcome immediately. Though there were dining options locally we decided to have dinner at the hotel and we're delighted we did. All of Javier's recommendations were spot on including his house white wine when far more expensive options could have been advised. Worthwhile having an after dinner drink on the terrace at night.   Everything. Breathtaking views. The best meals and incredible, well-priced wines in the restaurant. Very lovely clean room, with comfortable bed and a huge balcony overlooking the valley.   This place was a highlight. On the main square of Laguardia and deceptively large. Our superior room on the 2nd floor was big, clean with a huge comfortable bed, super shower and changing room. On arrival we were given vouchers for a complimentary glass of wine and pintxo in their cellar bar. A nice touch. The rooms and breakfast are pricey - This is our kind of hotel - small but beautifully appointed, very comfortable rooms, excellent food, interesting village and very friendly, helpful staff. The included breakfast was superb and the coffee excellent. We handed our evening wine selection to the most knowledgeable expert, Jean-Marie, who never let us down. All the staff were wonderful and even those who said they 'did not speak English' did so very well. The extended research we did to locate our hotel in La Rioja really paid off w
