We stayed in the new Silver Suite - it was extremely comfortable with a most beautiful view across the water.
Needless to say, but the food was magnificently presented and absolutely delicious.
The staff were exceptionally courteous and delightfully friendly. You felt you were staying with friends.

Warm and comfortable with everything we could want. Stayed in Silverdale which was large with a gorgeous bathroom and comfortable bed. Great choice for breakfast. - Friendly atmosphere created by the staff and excellent servicethroughout. Rooms are very spacious and have recently been decorated toa high standard.

this was our first visit to the lamplighter we were very impressed with the friendliness of all the staff we arrived with our 2 cavalier dogs who were made a big fuss of we also were asked if we wanted to eat in a separate room so the dogs could be with us which we declined as they are more than happy to stay in their sleeping crate .the breakfas

The innkeepers were charming! The hotels rooms newly decorated and the
kingsize beds very comfortable with lovely pillows. The breakfast was
also particularly delicious, with fresh juices, Greek yogurt with berry
compote for example. They accommodated well for special vegetarian
requests, even going out for veggie sausage for us for our second
day's breakfast. Well done and thank you for a fantastic stay! Mr

Very clean and recently refurbished. Staff veryt friendly and helpful. We stayed for 2 days and had our Dinner in the hotel on both days. (there is no where else to eat in the immdiate vicinity. Lovely country inn with a very pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. The public areas have a local, historic feel e.g. the downstairs bar still has the old stalls from horse drawn days; charming. The staff are friendly and efficient, the bar has a great selection of local beers and ales and the food is superb. Our room, while small, was extremely well appointed and comfortable, excellent en suite facilities with a super powerful shower, bliss.

Lovely well thought out room decor wise with lots of character and everything you'd expect - twinnings tea & tea making facilities, extra comfortable bed, a decent hairdryer and good hot & roomy power shower.
Staff were really friendly and went out of their way to make the stay enjoyable (cheesecake at 10:30pm and putting any sports onto the tv) and created a great laid back atmosphere.
Food was lovely, both breakfast and evening meals with a decent range of choice and fresh home cooked

We were greeted by a very friendly man who couldn't do enough for us. He allowed us into our room much earlier than usual as we wanted to get ready for a wedding nearby. The room was lovely, clean and had all the necessary bits and bobs we needed (including a hand-held magnifying mirror!).
Beds were comfortable, the bathroom was light and clean.

A lovely inn with good, clean rooms and a good sized ensuite bathroom ..and, at times, a working TV... sinceours didn't work!. However, everybody pulled out all the stops to get the TV in working order; alas, it was not to be. We were offered free drinks as compensation in the pub, which we appreciated very much. Other than this amusing story, we had a great time in this lovely place and would definitely go back!

Everything, obviously the hotels in this area are pretty old but this one was very clean and comfortable was very picturesque. The surrounding area was beautiful. The hotel was on Browness and a perfect position.

The Royal Oak is a great English Inn, the food was excellent, accommodation comfortable and the staff were superb. I felt really at home. We wanted a real good value pub as a walking base for the weekend, we found one right in the middle of the lakes. From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for us - big thanks. The food was straightforward, good quality and great value. The beer was exceptional and again great value. We loved all the fires and so did our dogs. The rooms we ok, nothing special, but clean and comfortable. We will be returning again.

The gables is a sweet place, more like a mini hotel than a guest house
with about 15 rooms. The owners have put care and attention into the
place with clean, bright rooms and a nice atmosphere. It's in a
great location in Ambleside, close to everything. Good value for money
and the breakfasts were second to none with a good range on offer. -
