we payed a little more for a Lakeland room and it was well worth the mony, the only thing we would say is that the room was over the bar and it was a little noisey but that stopped as soon as the bar closed. - Everything! The welcome from the reception staff, the warmth and cosiness of the room, the great variety of menus, lovely.......will return

yself and my husband and another couple stayed 1 night and chose this hotel due to the location - close to seascale but the location was beautiful the bar was a typical country inn type, the staff friendly, food was good & the Kamikazi real ale went down well. The room was small but clean and comfortable and good value for the price we paid. T

We wanted a real good value pub as a walking base for the weekend, we found one right in the middle of the lakes. From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for us - big thanks. The food was straightforward, good quality and great value. The beer was exceptional and again great value. We loved all the fires and so did our dogs. The rooms we ok, nothing special, but clean and comfortable. We will be returning again.

superb food,exellent and very helpfull staff, do not be put off by the price of food its not your regular steak and chips type of thing and its cooked to order! What a view from the balcony rooms stunning! - Everything! We have stayed at the hotel before and chose it for our honeymoon, the perfect place for peace and quiet.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Close to town, within walking distance. Accommodation warm, comfortable and all facilities one would expect. Food not exceptional but tasty and well cooked. All in all a pleasant stay and hope to return one day. -

I thought everything about the hotel was good. It was quiet and the room was spacious clean and had all the facilities required for a pleasant stay. Breakfast similarly provided all that was required to start a day. A good choice of cereal, cooked food or cold food if preferred with a range of drinks to suit all. Really enjoyed stay as base for visiting family in Cumbria. We were able to bring our two dogs rather than leave at home for small price per night. This was fabulous for us and a surprise as not realised when booked. Also free car park a real bonus for location and so convienient. Great shower in bathroom and as good as you get anywhere. All in all enjoyed 3 night stay with location short distance to walk to castle and park for dogs.Would recommend for budget conscious comfortable accommodation

the welcoming atmosphere, friendly, helpful, but not over-intrusive staff. Hotel does not have unrealistic pretensions, it knows itself and doesn't pretend otherwise. Room was spotless and comfortable, with a surprisingly large bathroom. The food was great, again unpretentious, honest, generous and cheerfully presented. -

It was in an excellent location for our needs, we had a friends wedding to attend in maryport.
The staff were all vey friendly and helpful.The tea making facilities in the room with biscuits was good, and the room was lovely and warm. overall, it was a lovely old country house, and we would definetly stay there again.
