We wanted a real good value pub as a walking base for the weekend, we found one right in the middle of the lakes. From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for us - big thanks. The food was straightforward, good quality and great value. The beer was exceptional and again great value. We loved all the fires and so did our dogs. The rooms we ok, nothing special, but clean and comfortable. We will be returning again.

Good friendly atmosphere, comfortable, spotlessly clean recently refurbished room. We booked an evening meal and were delighted with the quality, we had the gammon and haddock (not together) and both were excellent All the staff we met were really friendly and helpfull. -

A most charming inn set in a beautiful location overlooking Skiddaw. The staff were exceptionally friendly and as for the food - what can we say but 5 Star with emphasis on top quality local produce cooked with flair and presented with style. Great service, staff very welcoming and great location and views. Will certainly return when next we next visit the lakes. The breakfast service was the best we have had from any hotel/guest house. The little touches and attention to detail are very noticeable and make a real difference. Thank you to all the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.

We arrived extremely late (00.10) but were greeted with a warm, friendly smile by Steve who was so attentive. Loved the service. As there was a mixup with the booking the people at the guest house simply adjusted it to match our needs. Loved that staff was firendly and made us welcome. They even kept pur belongings safe the next day, after check out while we were in town. Really nice breakfast as well. Would love to go back if in the area. Good value for money.
