  We were offered free upgrade to a villa when they do not have any non-smoking room available. The place is extremely comfortable and cosy. The staff was so helpful when my friend did not feel well around the time of the checkout and mentioned we could stay till she was feelling ok and the personal touch on offering assistance just could not be fo... wat mensen zeggen » und in the 5 star hotel chains. - Our 2 nights-stay in the hotel was amazing. Our room was upgraded to a suite close to Gion Hatanaka. The suite was large, quiet and comfortable. We also enjoyed the kaiseki dinner as well as Geisha show. It was marvellous. The hotel staff was professional and helpful. They could communicate in English. I wish I could stay longer.

  Too many! We have a wonderful stay at Seikoro. We like almost everything there, loacation is perfect. We walked to lots visitor places nearby with our 2-year-old son. The breakfast was just like an art. The woman who service us names Hiro-san, we like her very much.... - Lovely ryokan with friendly, welcoming staff. Also loved the onsen and optional meals (we did not eat there on this occasion).

  It was our first time staying in ryokan. Staff was extreemly friendly and helpful. The room itself is big. Both Japanese and Western breakfast are delicious. Public bath is very nice. Location is just perfect, close to all kinds of restaurants, shopping area, Gion, subway - everything is at hand.

  Japanese style home stay :) clean room and friendly staff. although location is far from city, there is direct JR Bus from Kyoto station to the place. take about 40 mins though. fyi for other traveler as if take JR bus from Kyoto station, alight at Takahanacho stop then walk back about 100m then cross the other side of road. will find easily. staf... wat mensen zeggen » f speak little english and friendly. enjoy my stay :) - Owner and staffs are so friendly. I think he waited for our coming after I confirmed arrival time because while we were walking to find Ryokan and almost getting lost, he called us from in front of Ryokan. I was so impressed. I got a big clean room with garden view and not close to the street so it was quite and peaceful. This room is what I think when stay in ryokan. Love it.

  My wife and I stayed there and was very warmly welcomed by the staff. My wife is pregnant but we found sleeping on the tatami mattress comfortable. Aircon works well and the room and toilet was very clean. We booked around 1 week before going there thus the price was close to 200 Singapore dollars which was a bit steep, but we will stay there a... wat mensen zeggen » gain just because of the hospitality. Also try the set breakfast which you have to pre-order, it was a delicious home-cooked meal. - Decided to get a room with a view of the Japanese garden, was definitely worth the extra money. The staff were exceptionally patient with our limited language ability and extremely helpful in regard to local information and travel questions. The room was very quiet and exceptionally clean, I would definitely recommend staying here, especially for those travelling with jr Pass as the location is very near the rail station.

One of the younger staff could speak both English and Chinese, so it made communication much easier. The owner is so friendly and caring and if you can't speak a lot of Japanese its ok because she goes that extra mile to understand you and try to help you find your way.   We stayed here for one night just to experience a traditional ryokan. We found it quite easily. Take the subway to Gojo station on the Karasuma line and exit on the north side. The main street running north is Karasuma Dori, running west is Gojo dori.. Walk to the west & head north on the first little lane you come to. Toshiharu Ryokan is not ... wat mensen zeggen » quite two small blocks up on the left. There is no sign in English but it is the only charming looking traditional old house. The owners are very welc - The Toshiharu Ryokan is a beautiful old building in a good central location. Our hosts made us feel very welcome and did everything to make our stay enjoyable. I would highly recommend the Japanese breakfast. All of the facilities were very good and clean. We loved our room overlooking the garden. We look to staying at the Toshiharu in the future.
