  Hotel Monterey Osaka is very convenient to Osaka station making it a great base for accessing the city. It's easy to get to from Osaka Kansei via the train or bus. You can open the window in - The whole entire decor of the hotel made me feel as though I was in 1930/50s New York. Even the room had an old-world feel to it. The hotel was located close to the JR station, which also meant that, the hotel was located close to the shopping district. There was Wifi throughout the hotel! Even in our rooms. The toilet was so spacious! so much different from the other hotels in Japan!

  Loved the hotel's location. It's very accessible from the Osaka Park Subway Stop on the JR Loop. Makes it super easy to get around and it's lovely to get up early and go for a walk in the park! We paid extra for a room with a castle view and it was well worth it. Even though I asked for a non smoking room well ahead of time, I was told upon arriva... wat mensen zeggen » l they didn't have any to give us. However I couldn't tell the room we had was a smoking room to begin with, and my nose is very sensitive and I had n - The castle-view room at the 12th floor is very spacious for a couple. You have a nice view of the Osaka Castle & Park and the river. The nearest station is Osaka-jokoen, a 5-minute walk from the hotel. There is a convenience store at the nearby building but it closes at 11pm. From the Kansai airport (night arrival), it is more convenient to take the airport limo bus to Hankyu Hotel, then take the taxi to New Otani.

  The Front Desk staff were very courteous and helpful, especially on my group's check-out day. We had a group of 16 adults with 16 bags and had to transfer to Shin-Osaka to catch our bullet train to Nagoya. I believe his name was Mr. Sakaguchi who called for a quotation for 2 jumbo taxis. Heaps of food places of all price ranges and good shopping especially at Namba Walks shopping area near trains. Taking Exit b21 was very easy to find the hotel. Interesting quiet areas nearby. They have directions printed out to major attractions and can explain every step of the trip very well. The staff also gives good advice on where to go and what to do in Osaka.   The hotel itself is out of this world. I was expecting something good, but my stay there far exceeded expectation! Great room, great bed and amenities; duck down quilts!!! Felt like 1000TC covers. Staff are pretty fluent in English. It's situated smack bang in the middle of the Osaka nightlife, but very quiet! This is the real Osaka on a plate!!! - Hotel with great location, just 2-3 minutes walk from Dotonbori restaurants and nightlife and all the endless shopping arcades. The room was very clean and everything felt new and inviting. Room size was enough for our 2 suitcases and bags so we didnt have any complaints at all. Breakfast was ok but we didnt feel like it was worth the money.
