The staff at Gion Maifukan could not have done enough to help us. They were attentive without being intrusive and after the first night moved us to a bigger room to accommodate the four of us.

Our 2 nights-stay in the hotel was amazing. Our room was upgraded to a suite close to Gion Hatanaka. The suite was large, quiet and comfortable. We also enjoyed the kaiseki dinner as well as Geisha show. It was marvellous. The hotel staff was professional and helpful. They could communicate in English. I wish I could stay longer.

The Ryokan was situated on a quiet side road minutes from Kyoto station. A minute away was a nice breakfast place and in and around the station there were numerous eating places for dinner. The Ryokan was spotlessly clean and the staff friendly and helpful in supplying maps and information on sightseeing.

By taxi ( because it was very hot and humid in July) we went by taxi to a lot of marvelous sites. It was our first time staying in ryokan. Staff was extreemly friendly and helpful. The room itself is big. Both Japanese and Western breakfast are delicious. Public bath is very nice. Location is just perfect, close to all kinds of restaurants, shopping area, Gion, subway - everything is at hand.

available to rent which is very convenient to visit the shrines which

although location is far from city, there is direct JR Bus from Kyoto station to the place. take about 40 mins though. fyi for other traveler as if take JR bus from Kyoto station, alight at Takahanacho stop then walk back about 100m then cross the other side of road. will find easily. staf

Owner and staffs are so friendly. I think he waited for our coming after
I confirmed arrival time because while we were walking to find Ryokan
and almost getting lost, he called us from in front of Ryokan. I was so
impressed. I got a big clean room with garden view and not close to the
street so it was quite and peaceful. This room is what I think when stay
in ryokan. Love it.

My wife and I stayed there and was very warmly welcomed by the staff. My wife is pregnant but we found sleeping on the tatami mattress comfortable. Decided to get a room with a view of the Japanese garden, was definitely
worth the extra money. The staff were exceptionally patient with our
limited language ability and extremely helpful in regard to local
information and travel questions. The room was very quiet and
exceptionally clean, I would definitely recommend staying here,
especially for those travelling with jr Pass as the location is very
near the rail station.
