  I can't say enough good things about the Alto and staff . The room was clean ,comfortable and had little extras that made you feel at home.I had a mini box of chocolates and a welcome note waiting in my room as well as my luggage that they had kept secure for me for a week I was traveling to Caines . The staff were very friendly and the manager went out of his way to help solve an issue I had with my myki card. He was also a valuable source of information on what to do in Melbourne

  The hotel is on the upper reaches of the CBD close to the Victoria Market and opposite to the Flagstaff Gardens. Ten minutes walking will get you into central Swanson Street. The friendly greeting from the receptionist when you enter the hotel sets the tone of the place. Registration is quick and easy and you get directed to your room. First impressions of the room were a well presented and spotlessl - The staff were superb. Everyone, from the people on the desk to the cleaning staff to the people in the restaurant at breakfast time were polite, helpful, friendly and went out of their way to make you feel welcome without being 'in your face'. The breakfasts were very impressive with a great choice of fresh, delicious food and coffee made to order. The fresh fruit platter was an unexpected, very appreciated highlight on arrival. The room was quiet and clean and very comfortable (great bed). We

That's what I love most, as an anthropologist. I love the spaciousness of the rooms. I love the pillow menu - what a treat! The harpist is a wonderful treat :) The staff are very professional and courteous without being insincere or obsequious - that's a rare skill and greatly appreciated. - Room service meal was soooooo tasty and everyone was lovely there. I liked the fact that they had a system in place that allowed guests to use the same towels if they wanted to in order to save water which is great. What I would have also liked to see is a recycle bin in our room so we can put our aluminium, paper, cardboard, plastic and glass.

  Arriving on a delayed flight into Melbourne via Sydney from Hawaii, we expected all sorts of problems upon arriving very late at the Somerset. However, I must complement their staff, in particular Paul Dale, who were very helpful and understanding. Bob Langridge - i like there are lots of electric and home appliances, like microwave oven, washing machine, stove, etc. There are shops and supermarkets nearby thus cooking in the room is very convenient esp. my mother is a vegetarian. It also near the melbourne central, queen victoria markets. And many tourist points can be reach on foot. (If you don't mind to walk)

  The hotel suited our requirements perfectly. The location was good, the staff were exceptionally helpful. The beds were so comfortable. Even loved the fact that there was a bathtub which meant we could soak our weary feet and legs after a good day out and about. - Have stayed at Rydges 2009, 2011 and now 2013.   The room I had - 206 - was perfect after a long tiring & emotionally draining 6 week trip overseas. The shower was best I have had anywhere - a good very strong jet of instantly hot/cold water. Provison of small fridge and coffee/tea making facilities was good and should be basic feature of standard hotel accommodation. YOur reception staff were very courteous and friendly - I love this hotel. This was my second stay there. The location is fantastic, particularly if you are driving into the city from the airport like I was - easy to find. The staff are very very helpful and went out of their way to help me. The building is a little bit old and needs some small repairs, but really you can't beat this place for location and value for money.
