Well done Hampton Inn ! Stayed here for 4 nights in late May. The staff are excellent and like most things make the difference between a good/bad customer experience and an excellent one. We are experienced travellers (all over the world) and found the staff across the board very helpful and courteous. Location is great, central enough to most of the tourist sights and plenty of restaurant options within walking distance. Room was comfortable with everything you would require and expect. Breakf.

I liked that breakfast was included in the price of the room. Will recommend to people wanting to explore the city. Good choice of restaurants a few minutes' walk away. The hotel is located close to Union Station and yet within easy walking distance of the attractions along the National Mall. Large room and bathroom. Some plumbing issues, but these were resolved quickly. Free breakfast was standard although hot foods limited. Room at back of building was quiet and restful. Staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. We had everything we needed in terms of a better budget hotel that was well located - fast wifi, choice for breakfast, nice staff, comfortable beds. In particular the barman and chef (sorry, long trip and can't remember names - but on duty Oct 28-30, were terrific). The location was great for sightseeing. The free breakfast buffet was very good with a nice variety of choices. It was also nice to come in during a long day of sightseeing and have a cookie and cup of tea. You get a good deal for your dollar at the Hampton Inn. in the lobby there was always coffee, tea or hot chocolate available, the availability of breakfast in the morning,and when you came to the lobby after dinner hour there was cold water or lemon ice tea and fresh baked cookies available. Large comfortable room is quiet and clean. The location is excellent, a short walk to the Mall and only two blocks from Chinatown. Excellent water pressure in the shower was much appreciated after travelling from New York. A bit of a walk, but do-able. The breakfast was good, the coffee/tea and hot chocolate bar was very nice, and the staff - especially the valet parking attendant - was kind and helpful. The bar was very reasonable, which was an added bonus. The rooms are older, but clean, and the beds are comfortable. The rooms seemed quite small, but I haven't stayed in DC before, so maybe that is how all of the rooms are. All in all, it was . Wifi in room, breakfast in morning. Breakfast room is too small for hotel capacity, at times there were no place to sit, some guests had no choice but to take their breakfast to their rooms. The hotel needs refurbishment but was clean and the hot water went off when we needed it most (after swimming) - there was no notice under our door or in the lobby but I consider this unlucky rather than bad management (but since you asked). The view from our room, There is a building being torn down right across the road from the hotel which makes it look like you are in a war torn country. Very noisy air conditioner,especially when going on and off. There was insufficient seating for the breakfast sessions and the use of all styrofoam disposable plates and plastic cuitlery was environmentally dreadful. I felt uncomfortable with the huge amount of waste being created. Nothing...!. No complaints. Breakfast was rather chaotic when busy. Not enough seats for clients at busiest time. There were no negatives at all. Nothing to tell. The breakfast area was chaos but assume that the fact that there so many families in town for the Memorial Day weekend contributed to the situation. Once the holiday weekend passed it was back to a much quieter environment. We had a view on some construction There's a small park nearby where there're homeless people sitting and sleeping all day and night long. strictly no extra bed for more than 4 people. Elevator took forever to get to your floor (and there were two). Folks were complaining and walking down the stairs. Breakfast was very busy (although the staff ensured that food was constantly replenished). Building site opposite!. There was no late night room service to order food. Noise. Not fault of Hampton Inn. Lots of construction right outside our window even we were on the 13th floor. I did like everything. nothing. Nothing to complain about. The immediate area is undergoing a lot of construction (this is not the hotel's fault, but it's not "pretty"), and it can be hard to get a cab at times. We didn't know where to park once we got there & drove around for a couple of minutes until we realized it was valet parking. Breakfast room was crowded at peak times. A bit noisy due to air conditioning fan nearby the room. A bit pricey. The bath towels felt like sandpaper. Very expensive valet parking. Air conditioner noisy not alot of helpful information at front desk. No after midnight food service. Location is not as close as reviews make it seem. New construction across the street just started and will be going on every weekday for the next 2 years starting at 7am.
