The area is not bad at all! There is construction, but you can tell it is an up & coming area! If you use 200 Florida ave ne you will get to the hotel no problem. As far as "sketchy" people in the area I will say this, there is a mix of people in the area & there are pan handlers all over dc, even by the White House. The metro is right outside & very easy to use! There's a Starbucks, 5 guys burgers, 7-11, cvs, & Au Bon Pain all right outside or within 5 minutes walking. I'm very.
all reviews » Great hotel. Very clean and comfortable. Gym open 24/7. Bistro serving decent food/drink (a bar and serving Starbucks coffee) that you can eat in, take out or take up to the room. Location was excellent, walkable distance from Union Station and right next to the NoMa–Gallaudet metro station on the red line, linking straight to the Zoo or just one transfer to get to L'Enfant Plaza station (buses to Dulles airport) and a transfer from Smithsonian and the Mall. Perfectly placed - the location real. The hotel staff demonstrated a high degree of professionalism and they were most helpful. Also, it was remarkably quiet on the 8th floor, so I was able to get a good night's sleep before my running the Rock and Roll Half Marathon. I am planning to book this same hotel next year or the next time I travel to DC. Kudos to the entire hotel staff, even the young lady who helped me at 5:00 AM with a smile on her face. Everything was perfect. We had an awesome stay there. The subway station is right next to the hotel and you are in 5minutes in the middle of the center. Breakfast is also great! We just werent sure if we have to pay or not eventhough it was supposed to be included (we got a check when we ordered) but after all it was anyway included. staff was also really friendly! Darrell at the front desk was very helpful. The gentleman who cleans in the evening around the gym, pool and laundry area was likewise kind and helpful. The staff at the Courtyard is very customer-service oriented. Being first time visitors to the DC area we were extremely pleased with, Emmanual, the bar tender during our stay. He told us places to go, places to eat and of a great sports bar so we could watch the Stanley Cup game on Saturday night. All of his suggestions were spot on so kudos to Emmanual from his friends in Boston. Everything. The rooms. Quiet ambiance. I would return to it from the Hyatt where the rest of the family stayed and it would be so soothing to my senses. The convenience of shops and Metro made it not feel like staying in a hotel. Amenities were decent, and we liked the room very much. Employees were very helpful. Bartender in bistro was very helpful and Hassib the manager was also more than helpful. Hotel is right next to metro!. Access to Metro to get around to anywhere in DC.,Very accommodating and professional staff from a tv that did not work to needing towels,7-11 right at the hotel if you needed anything. The location is very near the subway, and one station from the union station, however, it's a litter far if by walking to union station. Staff are very nice. There is a lot of construction activity, but it is contained and wasn't offensive. We found it interesting to watch at breakfast. Nothing. Location of hotel wasa something to be desired. Too many office building & construction. Not enough greenery. We loved the fact the the hotel is right next to the Ny Ave metro station but when you're in this part of DC, you feel like you're in a glass & steel cage. We're more used to at least some greenery and a nice view. Not this time. Getting to and leaving the hotel was an adventure. Traffic, construction and the dc one way streets made it very interesting. You do have to pay $33 per day for valet parking but the curbside staff helped tremendously. It's charge my credit card around 60dollars after check in, which is not like the deposit. I asked without answer. No public parking in the area that can be used during the night. If you stay over the we no pb but during the week you have to move car out of parking lot in the street before 8am or use the parking from the hotel which is more expensive. Free coffee in the lobby bewteen and and 10 am as noted on the in room brochure no longer exsisted. Single serving coffee maker in room and Starbucks available in the hotel lobby. Staff though pleasant should have known more about the metro and attractions, could not even tell me metro costs.. strange. Nice city for family trips, museums are fantastic. Alot to do on the cheap but beware family sit down dinners can be costly. The selection of food/coffee was not good. Especially the starbucks "iced coffee" I purchased at the hotel lobby. How the room was set up ... It was to small for a king size bed it looks like they cramed it it to a sardine can , they was no bath tub in my room and the television was station on the side of the bed.. no breakfast. Breakfast should be upgraded... A buffet would be much more efficient than à la carte when included in room rate. some rooms with our group did not have hot water. expense for parking excessive need better in room morning coffee etc. it was great... nothing negative to say!. Someone was knocking my door at 11PM. And it will be perfect if have microwave in room. Not a great location but next door to Metro station (Washington's subway is very good) and a reasonable walk to Union Station. Rooms smaller than average courtyard. Bistro was very busy - seems there is not enough staff. Some problems with panhandlers outside the hotel. Valet parking to expensive 33$ (. Motion sickness I guess from the rail being right there. Small pool. nothing. Location okay (next to metro) but a bit out of the way. Construction outside of our room worked allllll night long. We had a horrible first night. Staff moved us the next night and it was much better. A little to remote from centre. Did not like that there was no parking and had to pay $33.00 a day for parking. No courtesy shuttle to airport. Not best neighborhood areas surrounding. Room smelled moldy. Breakfast service was SLOW. The area around the hotel NOT GOOD. Did not feel safe. Swimmingpool is too small. Everything was pretty good.
