Great place to stay if you know what you are going for. It does not have a front desk. It's all through a password you'll get in the e-mail. It's actually a house in those english styles neighborhoods. Everything inside was clean and nice. The room had a private bathroom which is great. The internet was also very fast. I totally recomend the place, specially because you can park for free in the streets in the neighborhood. The metro is nearby and there are plenty of good restaurants around. The.
all reviews » As long as you understand that this is a "guest house," not a hotel, not a b & b, and you understand that it is converted old home, you should have a wonderful time. Don't expect the staffing of a hotel. I chose it for the convenience to the Medstar Hospital complex and it was very easy to travel there. I loved the availability of shared kitchen and living spaces. The owner was very friendly, helpful and concerned that my stay was a success. Sheila was a great hostess, very friendly. I stayed in the Lighthouse suite. It was like home away from home for a week. The room was clean and comfortable. I can't put into words how great and relaxing the stay at AsanteSana was. I have already recommended to friends and family, and will continue to recommend it to any one. The converted townhouse is quite welcoming. Guests have access to a sitting room, dining room, and kitchen. My room had beautiful modern features in the bathroom while the room itself retained a cozy, comforting quality that you can't find at a chain hotel. I posted pictures on Facebook, recommending it to everyone. Good location, pleasant neighborhood near the center of the city with easy metro access. Very quiet - we rarely saw other guests. Kitchen facilities in common space and in the room we stayed in. AC adequate, internet access fine, parking limited but manageable. Access by numerical code rather than keys. we had a garden level room which only a rooms so lots of privacy. the location was excellent, close to metro with lots of shops and restaurants. even though some appliances in downstairs kitchen didn't work, they were prompt to try to sort it out and alternatively let us use the upstairs facility. We liked eveything about the place. The staff we saw was friendly. The neighborhood was fun. Metro is 2 blocks away. And. The bike rental racks are right across the street which certainly helped us explore areas that we might no have had access to (This is more of a DC thing than a hotel thing). Location was near the very vibrant Columbia Heights area. Plenty of shopping and restaurants and the Columbia Heights metro stop. Room on the third floor was very large with sink, fridge and microwave. Good value in D.C. Very friendly staff. First floor shared space is very nice. First time in dc, I went alone, and I couldn't have asked for a better hotel. Very private and quiet. Everything was close, and I felt safe getting in late at night.I Stayed in the Dubois Suite. Be warned that there are no windows (just a tiny bit of glass block relight) in the lower rooms. The parking is a bit confusing, and I'm not sure where some of the other guests parked, as I only saw two spaces. Also, people who did not receive a confirmation email from the hotel itself wouldn't know that they could only enter the hotel after hours if they had the key code. I let one couple in while it was raining, then they needed to call the after-hours number to get the code for their room. A little more emphasis in advance that it is self check-in! No front desk! I had printed out the sheet with the access code, fortunately. By chance we met a guest there who told us how the system works, which saved us puzzlement and frustration. as there is no ducted air con in the room they provide a portable one which works perfectly, but noisy. The microwave needs to be replaced and the tile in the sink, fridge area is eventually going to break a toe because it's ~3/4" high with a square edge and it's between the bathroom and the bed. The building is old and could still use some updating. We were on the third floor. The stairs are quite narrow. You'll get better sleep in a room away from the street during school days.....if you're a day sleeper. Travellers must make sure to check their e-mail a few days before arriving at Asante sana! It is very essential! Without the information in the email you can't check in since there's no staff on duty at the guest house. We had been travelling for a while and had not checked our e-mail, we had only brought the letsbookhotel.com reservation, which wasn't enough to enter. So just make sure to do this, in that case you'll have a great time staying here! Wifi only works downstairs in the common area. Parking with tight, but free!. Poor AC but does the job Bring your own food No one at your arrival carrefully read the instructions given if you do so you'll be fine. Hall was dark when we came in and it took a while to find the light. No one even said hello to us the whole weekend so if there was a problem, I don't know what we would have done. The bathroom could have a division for the shower. The rooms on the first floor are very loud. We were both woken up several times by anyone walking above you. Also the owner overcharged me for our room and never bothered to credit my credit card. I never heard from her again. No one is there to greet you or explain anything about parking. The neighborhood is not "walking" distance to anything significant. I would highly recommend a cab, so add that to the cost of the room!!. No person on duty, one evening the door on the outside stayed wide open, which is pretty scary. Manager said she would solve this issue. no phone in room; sense of security...some reception presence would be good. Several narrow flights of steps to negotiate with luggage and dress clothes. The bed in our room was, to our taste, really uncomfortable. Very very soft. Private bath for our room was down some steep stairs on floor below, with ricketty rail. A bit freaky in the middle of the night!. No windows in our room or the other room on our floor, so if you suffered from claustrophobia you may have a problem. The other folks on our floor slept with the door open so it must have been an issue for them. But that is the nature of Terrace houses, and the benefits far outweigh this issue. Room is small, somewhat cavelike, not a problem on our brief stay but could seem claustrophobic for a longer visit. More noise than ideal from overhead and from the corridor outside the room. Host erroneously maintains nearest subway stop is only served by Green line. You enter with a pin-code sent to you by email. You need to be online or call them to get access. No coffee when there should have been. Parking is really a problem. I had trouble getting in - there was nobody on site when I arrived which was fine but nobody answered the phone numbers listed. I didn't see the access code in my email. I missed my appointment on Friday night trying to gain access The bathroom was downstairs, no bath & without a sign on the door. Noisy building. Can hear everyone else moving around. Aircon next to be. Very noisy old house. Floor boards creaking. No security , no staff , only pass code and open the door , u don't know who's with u in house , looks like private villa. We ask for a baby cot, but was not available. Nobody was present in the guesthouse and prattically the hotel is run by phone.
