I hesitated to write about this hotel, because once the word gets out, I won't be able to get a reservation. Seriously, this is the coolest place. On a cul de sac with all of the surrounding apartment buildings built in the 1950s-60s, the El Dorado has been converted to a hotel. We stayed in a two-bedroom apartment with a lovely living room and small kitchen, and the pool area was just outside our door. The staff - Amanda and Franco in particular - were very friendly and helpful, our room was gorgeous and spacious, the kitchen had everything you could wish for, the pool area was fabulous,... Our little girl slept in the prettiest Laura Ashley cot I've ever seen. 2Br is fabulous for families, all the eminities & kitchenware are included in the room. Just have to bring luggage & food. Rooms are stylishly decorated. Staff is very plesent & helpful. Pool area is open 24 hrs. Able to park directly behind your room. Will stay again in the near future. :-). The staff was wonderful, the price incredible and the rooms nicely furnished. The pool area was incredible with lots of fabulous decorations, lounge areas, and wonderful art deco touches. There are bbq facilities, outside fire pits, shady areas, dining areas, a great pool and hot tub. Loved the vibe! Friends and I had a great time for my birthday weekend. Loved the pool area with the games and fire pits. It was a hidden gem close enough to get to old town with no problem! I would stay here again. Staff was very friendly and inviting. Older facility but well maintained. They do a good job with little features and staff works to be helpful. We didn't really know if we were supposed to give him a tip, since he obviously was more than bellboy and we didn't want to offend him... Jacuzzi was being closed during our visit & no fitness area. The rooms lacked a few small items in the kitchens, doors didn't close properly, phone didn't work. All small things, that when told to front desk were taken care of. If they would do a little more maintenance and pay attention to make sure these things were taken care of this could be a fabulous resort. I would definitely recommend this resort and stay here again. Wish they had an outside ice machine instead of having to bother the front desk. Wireless internet kept going down or being flaky. Got a little noisy above us, but it was brief. Going home. Minor things--one day shampoo was brought but no coffee; the next day the reverse. One of the bedroom bathroom doors did not close. We had to leave!. That my stay was over and I had to go back to home and work. Tvs by the pool area distract from the retro relaxing mood. Neighborhood, not fantastic, but did like the proximity to Scottsdale old town. Parking terrible. A few lights were out, couch was very itchy, hotel was hard to find. overall not what I expected from what I read online. On one of our groups rooms there was no air conditioning. It was 119 degrees in Phoenix over the weekend!. The interior design, including the floors and paint and tile, were poorly done. Shabby furniture by the pool Carpets were not clean. I didn't like the neon bright hall lights that shined into my bedroom window all night. No way to block out the light and shades didn't help. Didn't like the dirty towels in the bathroom. Didn't like the dried up sugar at the bottom of the coffee cups that housekeeping kept putting back on the coffee tray - I don't use sugar, so it was from the prior guest.
