The staff of The Downtowner were wonderful. Warm, friendly and very helpful with directions and suggestions of places to see, eat, etc. The location of the The Downtowner could not be beat! Right in the middle of downtown Saratoga Springs. It was great for strolling around the town, visiting the shops and checking out the different resturants and bistros. We were there for a concert at SPAC. Was very easy in and out for that venue as well.
all reviews » Location is the best! Nice sitting area outside the room or around the pool. Wifi works great and we had a king bed which was great and comfortable. Quiet and friendly place to stay. The breakfast was minimal but uncommond grounds across the street has the best coffee & bagels or up the street on the left was a full all day breakfast for less than $10. The continental breakfast was ACTUALLY FRESH! The all day coffee was a nice touch. WiFi was easy access. All the staff were very friendly. The younger staff at night were very in line with the professional but friendly atmosphere which the hotel exudes. The Downtowner staff has always been very friendly in my 5 stays. The continental breakfast is a great way to start the day. Rooms have always been clean and usually ready early. The location has to be oe of the best in town. The hotel is amazingly convenient to all of downtown Saratoga. The accommodations are basic but clean and comfortable. The staff is helpful and pleasant. For the money I can't thing of a thing wrong. Very clean, relaxed atmosphere, incredible helpful staff, great small warm indoor pool, in an awesome right in the downtown Main St of Saratoga, NY plus all for an excellent price. Staff incredibly friendly and helpful. Could not ask for a better location, right in the middle of Main Street on which all restaurants were located. Will most definitely return!. It was not a huge deal since we were only there one night, but it could have been if we had planned to stay longer. Towels are a little thin. We are very lite sleepers and our corner room was a bit loud until late at night. Everything was anazing. Pool not in operation (though free passes to the local ymca were available); Parking onsite was tight (but nearby parking garage was available at no charge); Pricey, but reasonable considering where you are. Reservation was not in the system...She gave me the rate that I booked....is there a time limit I didnt see ? booked almost 2 hours advance. A bit outdated. Odd room layout. Noisy AC. Still, overall was fine when considering the cost and the great location. Room clean but needs updating. Bathroom clean but also outdated. Shower water pressure mostly very low, with frequent hot/cold swings. Our room was very basic. No frills or elegance. All was good. It is not a 5 star hotel but it is a nice motel. lack of parking space at motel lot. Rooms street side let too much traffic noise and general people noise in. The heating system was difficult monitor. The Parking Situation. Was noisy at night after the bars let out from the people outside. Our room(#245) was also right above where the complementary breakfast is and was noisy early in the morning. The decor could be refreshed. noisy next-room neighbors. Everything is good. Pictures on internet not what the place really looks like. Breakfast..Noisy pipes...Parking. Noisy air conditioning in room, and lack of on site parking. Breakfast a joke. Very noisy at night - maybe someone's air conditioner was faulty, or it sounded like something clunking around in a dryer over our heads; our only complaint would be that the room wasn't quiet when we were trying to sleep. I asked about AARP or AAA discounts, and heard "they're all the same," but no discount was applied to our bill. I didn't have time or inclination to fuss at checkout, figuring "all the same" meant same as no discount. ???. Nothing comes to mind. Pool hours. Should be increased hrs. 9 am - 10 pm. Bed seemed very worn. Not very comfortable. air conditioner didn't work well. Construction going on across street, very noisy in morning. Kinda old, no fan in the bathroom, because we were sharing a room, a bathroom off the lobby or near the pool would have been good for our group. Accommodations very basic in comparison to the price. breakfest was poor at best. The pool sucked it was no better then a lap pool. filthy smelly.door did not close crack heads everywhere i walked inn and walked out and stay at the Holiday Inn down the street.
