The location was perfect, close to union square and downtown SF. The room was clean and comfortable. Elevator was well maintained. Had a kiosk where you can check in online and print your boarding pass. Had a tour desk to arrange your tour in SF. Overall was a pleasant stay. I was overcharged and it took a while for the receptionist to believe me (even though I had my original booking (with letsbookhotel.com printed out) and then work out what to do. I feel that I was overcharged on purpose, hoping that I wouldn't notice.
all reviews » The amazing bay views from our large corner room, the very helpful staff, the Christmas gingerbread display, the great location, heated outdoor pool (yes in December), great breakfast choices. Quiet and clean. ticked all the boxes. The hotel is very clean and the staff is very professional and friendly. There are 3 towers on this property which allows for less foot traffic in the hallway of the tower I stayed in which made the stay more enjoyable. Great location right by Union Square and Lori's Diner, ideal for the Financial district or those wanting to hit the shops. Fast and free wifi in the large lobby with plenty of seating to sit and browse or work. the room we had was fantastic. it was very clean & the bed very comfortable. we found the staff to be very freindly & proffesional. overall everything about our stay at the hilton was fantastic... Great desk help and persistence after my name was entered incorrectly and they could not find my reservation.... They finally found the miss spelled version, then gave me an upgrade. Big, centrally located hotel, but staff were friendly and personable. Health club was large, well equipped and very well maintained by staff member Tulio. Very simple and classy layout. Spacious. Again, I understand it's Union Square but a lot of hotels offer free wi-fi. They should consider joining the bandwagon :). -tap of the bathtub is hard to open -parking fee is high -no refrigerator. My room only had a chair for the desk, it needs a comfortable chair to read and relax!. The traffic in the hall from our room is very loud and dirupting to our comfort. The macaroni and cheese was horrible. Change recipe please my guess and I disliked equally. Just our opinion. Lots of other items from the menu were great. The bathroom door was glass so light showed through when someone took a very early shower. As with many City hotels meals and specifically breakfast are far overpriced. The base cost of breakfast of $28.00 for basically eggs and bacon and toast is 4 times more expensive than outside local restaurants. Although rooms were spacious (we stayed in a one bedroon suite), the furniture is tired and needs to be upgraded. Also Wi Fi should be included in rates. The lines were ridiculously long at the Starbuck's coffee kiosk and it was the only one. My husband had to leave the premises and go down the street to get coffee. Also, the bed could have been a better quality. price. I was surprised that the pool was outdoors (and on the 16th floor, if I'm not mistaken). I would have loved to have gone for a swim but it was too cold (even in August) and would have expected the pool to be indoors. Hotel was overcrowded ! We had to wait at least 30 min to be able to check in ! Long queues for check-in and sulky faces of the reception since they are so busy i guess :(. Checked in to the room with pillows thrown on the couch with no pillow cases on, no glasses in the bathroom and no bath towels. Was told that the chambermaid who cleaned up the room had to go off and left a note for someone to finish up the tidying but that didn't happen. Not a lot really. Hotel is a little "tired" in decore. Only a small restaurant for a very large hotel. Most channels in TV didn't work. Only one of your staff the porter that I requested on the 18 sept at 9 40 pm to collect our bags from room 1701 n from my neice s room 1704 . He showed an attitude of extreme reluctance n threw our bags on to the cart like pieces of trash . Absolutely rude n rushed to the Mason st entrance not a word fr him .This ending to an otherwise perfect stay at your hotel left us Wth a sour note . One or two security staff and a lady staff at urban tavern restaurant were not polite . When I was having breakfast a chineselooking lady staff asked me ' do u know this breakfast will cost you thirty six dollars ' ? She thought I cud not afford it !. - Not very good WIFI system - Expensive car park. Forgot to put tip a night and got a used conditioner that day. Enormous building. Lots of people. Crowd at breakfast. None. None. For $370 a night it should have included breakfast. I accidentally cancelled our first reservation at far less money when I called to get it back right after it happened the hotel quoted $450 a night. The phone operator wasn't very friendly either. No bathroom shower gel. Had to ask for it. No cups for coffee. In other words cleaners did not check little things which are basic. Rooms very small no drawers whatsover for clothes. So we had to dress from our suitcases. This is a disgrace. A bit too old, needs heavy renovation. Wall paper was falling off, for example Starbucks inside the lobby is to small and creates long cues. No complaints. Rooms had very poor sound proofing. We were bothered with many sounds we should not have been able to hear in our room. Long check in lines. Very busy Lobby/waiting room. Small bathrooms. Proximity to the tenderloin. Ridiculously priced room service and international calls. Too expensive beacuse i had to fix the bed and the sliding bathroom and closet door. Shower was too short and no water pressure maybe because Room was for a handicap person. Shoty renovation. All could have been avoided had someone with a trained eye checked the work. The parking garage price for a full day if very high vs other parking lots or garage. All the taxes and fees inflated the rates. Old building so not insulated and a bit noisy above and beside but OK for one night.
