I found the service to be excellent and it started way before we even arrived. The concierge helped us to find the right tour companies and plan out our trip so it was everything we wanted. My work takes me to many destinations and i have stayed at many different types of hotels but never have i received the type of great service as I did at this hotel. They took care of everything without question. I will definetly stay at this hotel again.
all reviews » Overall a very pleasant stay with close proximity to shops and public transport. Gliezl at the front desk was amazing and moved us to a quiet floor after moving twice due to the thinness of the walls. She was professional, friendly and efficient and made sure we got a room without an interleding door as well as a breathtaking bay view!. This is simply an excellent hotel. Starting from the tremendous rooms, over the very good breakfast, to the world-class service of the personal, who are always willing and ready to make your stay highly comfortable. I can clearly recommend this hotel. Efficient and friendly staff. Very nice well appointed room. Great location close to Union square. Room serice was fast and the food quality excellent. Very satisfied and will be top of my list of hotels for my next SF visit. Location is great. Right where you want to be in San Francisco for a short trip. I had use of the Club Room, which was terrific; wonderfully friendly and a nice place to drop in to get a snack or drink. The hotel is modern and contemporary in it's design and decor. There is a Bart stop only a couple blocks away which was convenient getting to and from the airport. Front desk staff was great. - great view from our room (union square view); - great location to go in the heart of san francisco; - great location to go shopping; - exact in front of lobby is starsbuck coffee. Loved the chic, sophisticated feel to the hotel and the rooms were lovely with state of the art technology. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom roomy and well appointed. Union Square is the heaven for shopping and easy access to almost everywhere around town. The walls are very thin so noise travels quickly between rooms. Someone had vomited down the hall from where my room was. There was also an empty wine bottle and glass left in the hallway. It stayed there for a couple of hours until I finally called housekeeping and asked them to clean it up. Shouldn't have been necessary. Though I wasn't around the hotel in the evening, there were annoying teenagers lingering & loitering inside & outside post prom, at 2am when I did get back from drinking. Other than that, I would stay at this hotel again. - nothing close with convenient store. Nothing. Not enough hanging hooks in the restroom for the used towers. Having to leave. Missed the great views from the bar on the top floor - moved to second floor. Food good but not great. I arrived in the evening only to find out that I did not have a room inspite of the fact that I reserved my room over a month ago with a credit card guarantee. How does this happen ? We were therefore placed in another hotel that same evening and it was not a good thing most specially around 11:00 pm at night !!. This was a business hotel and not really suitable for young families. Minibar was empty -- just a fridge with nothing in it. Not something i'd expect in a $450/night hotel! No soda vending machine on the floor either room with two "queen" beds really had two quite narrow perhaps-full beds valet parking costs a fortune while there is plentiful public parking in a city garage across the street (diagonally) for literally a fraction of the price. Not aplicable. The fan on the air conditioning unit was very loud, so I was not able to sleep very well. Restaurant a bit disappointed. It'll be effect if the is an outdoor swimming pool facility. Air didn't work very well in the room. Was really warm. Read that on another review the person had the same problem. Could not get it to cool down so the room was very very stuffy. Nothing. Everything is great. This is our first trip to San Francisco, actually our first trip ever. We are celebrating our 30th anniversary and I had requested a bay view or great view of the city. We were on the 4th floor looking in the windows of two tall buildings. I was dissapointed by that. Limited space to store clothes and luggage. Parking expensive. Broken items inside room. The rooms were very high tech. Some of it worked....some did not. I didn't like the check-in area at all...too space-age. I also wasn't thrilled with the lounge. I've stayed at this hotel in the past and I enjoyed the feel of it before. There was also no robes or slippers in the room, which is very unusual. Reception Parking-cost No pool Could hear neighbours coughing in hallway. Lay out for meetings is awkward, to get to MZ level you have to go down then up. The bar service on Saturday was slow and could have been better. Noise from street. (to be fair this isn't the hotels fault). Maybe double glazing might help but it is a city so you cant help but here all the sirens etc. Cannot believe that they moved the bar from one of the best views in SF on the 36th floor to the 2nd floor with a view of a bus stop or Starbucks. They should subscribe to CSN so patrons can watch local sports in their rooms or the bar. The Grand Hyatt used to have that "something special" quality on the 36th floor. Now they have downgraded the experience to a pedestrian feel like so many other local hotels. No gift shop Noisy construction and street noise. Windows are not sound proof. Not all hotel staff are friendly. Possibly rooms a bit small. Would much prefer 2 queen beds in the rooms over the full size beds. No complimentary water The price The shower. chipped furniture but wasn't that big of a deal. just seemed odd when everything else was top notch. trash on the streets. I am not able to activate my account on their terrible website for the gold passport card even after staying 8 nights. I contacted on the reception twice but of no use.Another thing was that on last day, they tried to charge me for premium internet but then when I insisted that I have not taken that and have not used, they waived off that charge of 44 dollar. Could hear the people in the ajoining room - 1st night throwing up at 3am and 2nd night banging on doors to get in their room at 2am. Windows not sound proof to outside noise either. Stupid shaped sinks in the bathroom -covered in water every time we used it. Ended up putting a flannel under the tap to stop the splashing! Can't go up to the 36th floor (viewing floor) unless a conference is on!! - very odd.
