What people say

The staff was the first impression of Gaslamp Plaza suites and was definitely a great one. Walking into the room I expected an average looking room with average looking furniture and found myself in a luxury suite. The large windows overlooking downtown, the quilts on the bed and expensive looking couch and love seat and bathroom design was out of my expectation. This hotel by far is my favorite and for the price I paid for made me want to return and I will.
all reviews - Despite limited staff, manager on duty works very hard to meet your needs; - Two separate rooms (in one suite) with two full baths and separated by a hallway; - Older hotel but they use it well for a classic look and appeal; - Two large tv screens; - Close to everything on busy and popular 5th Ave. - View of the city from the rooftop (for a.m. breakfast) - Comfortable beds - Access to hot water without waiting for minutes - Overall value. The staff was incredibly down to earth friendly and I felt treated like special and the ambiance was perfect. My good friend is already booking this hotel in a coupke of weeks for her trip. Can't say enough about the people at the front desk, especially Mary. The staff was very nice and upgraded our room to the one bedroom suite which was nice with two small children. They didn't have the crib in the room we requested but brought it up immediately. We booked last minute though so maybe they didn't have the time. Staff was super. Location Rooftop terrace Spacious room Clean Friendly. I loved everything about the Hotel & the staff. Loved the rooftop and the rooms were really cute. clean. friendly staff. overall good experience. Location confortable room confortable pillow. - Although I did not bring a car, I was shocked when I heard someone being charged $30 a night for parking - Breakfast could be enhanced more or varied from day to day (small things like apples one day the oranges the next then bananas or change the cereal offerings). I loved everything. Nothing to complain about. Site little annoying because of the hotel's location on Main Street. The noise from the street at night made getting to sleep a challenge. We were on the second floor in the front, so we were close to "party central". The breakfast was just cereal, pastries and toast. Fruit would have been nice and maybe a waffle maker. You hear every single sound in the hallway and outside. I was on the second floor and I could hear every word people said on street level, every radio in every car that went by, all the loud music and laughing on the "strip". Super noisy. They also use some kind of room deodorizer that is very strong and in my case was terribly aggravating for my allergies. We were on the 5th floor, but could still hear all the outside noise. The "breakfast" was just some danishes and cold cereal. I expected more from an upper class hotel. The bed was too hard for my taste. Not really the hotel's fault, just my preference. Also, they charge $11 per day for internet. Which surprised me, because lesser quality hotels don't even charge for that. The breakfast is very poor, cold cereal, a few rolls, juice and coffee. No fruit, nothing hot, worst I have seen. I paid 30 dollars for really bad internet. The signal dropped every five to ten minutes and then we had to login again. Really annoying! Plaza Suites: get yourself a good provider and better still, make internet complimentary (this is the 21st century!) and I will rate you five stars. n/a. Did not like the extra $30.00 a day parking. Should have a cheaper weekly rate. The street noise was quite loud with construction on the corner. The continental breakfast was awful. We were not told that a 2 double bed as requested was not available. From our reservation confirmation it appeared to be alright, to find out this was not the case. On our first night the air-conditioner was not working. We had to leave the window open, very noisy night and sleeplessnes. We had trouble sleeping because of the late night partying. The noise was very bad, people shouting, sirens, and horns blaring. I enjoyed my stay and don't have any complaints. I do have one general point to make. It's the year 2013. Hotels, even those that cater to business travelers, need to start including the cost of internet with the room price. A tv was not optional in hotel rooms in 1985 and internet shouldn't be now. The optional internet cost was reasonable. It's just annoying and hotels that charge for internet risk coming off as dinosaurs. I have nothing to complain... Parking is a little to pricey. nothing. Room was a little tight in the bedroom. Rooftop was a bit disapointing and the breakfast very limited. A pool would have been great as would some gym facilities. Also, Europeans like to have tea making facilities in the room as well as coffee with real milk. Windows in rooms 603 didn't all open as weights in sash window broken and frame broken in one window in 716. The rooms facing the streets, were a bit noisy diring the night. I didn't care for the continental breakfast and the fact that there is no fitness room and no lobby to sit in while waiting for friends. Noise from street really loud until about 2 am on Friday and Saturday, then construction noise starting 5-5:30am most mornings. Our room was over the melting pot side of the building so if we came again not sure if the other end would be quieter at night :(. Unfortunately even though we were on a high floor it was very noisey. Breakfast included though quite limited to two choices of cereal& toast/pastries. Would have been nice to have some fresh options. Also have to pay for wifi which was disappointing - only place on our travels which demanded this. Street noise, after hours party folks on street. No free WiFi. morning breakfast was terrible. The 11 floor is great with view however, hotel should provide a better breakfast if they advertise breakfast included. No eggs, no begals/cream cheese, will not stay at hotel again due to this. There are many hotelsin area that have great rooms and service and offer better breakfasts. The breakfast rather spartane, considering the prices of the rooms. Free internet is available only on the hotel lobby. Gaslamp area is full of bums, beggars and homeless people. Only mirror in suite was bathroom mirror....two women cannot live without full length mirror in room:). Limited breakfast options No newspaper at rooms. The view from room 604. Bed somewhat uncomfortable. I did not care for the room on the street. You hear noise in the late evening & early morning. Next time I would request a room not on the street. Although the view was great. I just think they maybe should do a happy hour or something for the guests. breakfast.
