  The location was great for access to Volcano National Park. The tour of the on-site lava tube was great. The setting was beautiful. Breakfast first day seemed kind of limited for kids but realized Shannon thought is was for two adults. Once she found out I was traveling with my daughter she put out "kid-friendly" options.   Upon arriving, we parked in the spot labeled Pineapple. Toby was working in his "man cave" and came out to greet us immediately. He showed us around the lower level facilities including the hoses to rinse off sand; the beach chairs, snorkel gear and coolers we could use for our stay (even sunscreen), and the outdoor shower and hot tub. Toby handed us over to Kirby :) and she showed us around the house - Toby and Kirby are superb hosts! Since they've lived in the area for decades, they have an intimate knowledge of the north short of Kauai, and of its residents -- chatting with them was a bit like being an insider! Toby's breakfasts are superb, and the home is beautiful, and supremely comfortable. The kitchen and living room were always open to guests and we took full advantage of it.   Loved the Rain Forest outside our 3 glass sided walls and the privace, can hardly see another cabin. Staff placed nice selection of snacks, teas, etc in room. Also, short 10-15 min drive to Volcano. The hotel was perfectly clean and well equipped. It was quiet and private. The bed was super comfortable. There were good restaurants just down the road.

  Lovely breakfast with lots of fruit. There was always someone of the (very friendly) staff around whom we could bother with our questions. For $10 we could rent an underwater camera to take on our snorkelling tour - we even got a great shot of a sea-turtle! There was a ton of beach-gear that we could take with us on our excursions for no extra cos... what people say » t. Working wi-fi, nice spa, etc. etc. Luxury-wise the Guesthouse is better than any hotel, with the additional bonus that you are one of only a few pa - Tanna, the host, is a lovely person. You can borrow whatever you want... (snorkling gear, DVDs, Picnic gear...) You can use the house like it's your own. There is planty of soaps, shampoos, bathtowels for the beach, beach umbrella, beach chair for use... If you need help for booking anything, just ask Tanna. She knows the island like a grown up. And the most important is that you can sit in a hot tub after a long day out... just heaven

  Our stay at the Honu Kai B&B was fantastic: A wonderful location (great garden and beautiful and very clean rooms), furious tasting breakfast, many great tips/guidance to explore, and - finally - exceedingly nice hosts making you feel like a family visit :-) We fully enjoyed our time there and hope coming back soon!
