Service really was exceptional, just like they claim; the staff tended to your needs, greeted you at breakfast and made sure your stay was tended to throughout. The views are gorgeous, but believe it or not almost secondary--that's how much Mr. Martine makes you feel welcome to stay at his home. He shares with you the warmth of his home without being pretentious. He has the most amazing collection of MG cars (and antiques!) and is happy to show you and describe their vintage to you anytime. .
all reviews » Great location and the staff were very friendly. Great for a couple looking to relax and take in the scene. The place has all the old world charm. We were even greeted by some deer in the front yard as we were checking in. Location is fantastic with good restaurants within walking distance and 17 Mile drive within a bike ride range (much nicer than doing it by car and you don't have to pay the entrance fee). Just perfect. The owners collection of MGs is an added bonus. Make sure to take . Couldn't ask for better location, walking distance to Cannery Row shopping, restaurants and aquarium. Literally across the street from the Bay & walking/biking trail. Absolutely awesome view duringbreakfast and evening wine/hors d'oeuvre in dinning room. Beautifuly patio, unique antique MG car collection. The facilities were excellent. Very clean and filled with antiques. The staff could not have been more friendly. The owner greets all visitors every day. As we were checking out the owner even presented us with a little travel bag with water and banana bread for the way home. An easy walk along the ocean to the aquarium area. Beautiful ambiance. Nice breakfast. Great library, chess table and billiards. Enjoyed looking at the collection of old MG sports cars. The experience was reminiscent of staying at grandmother's house in my youth. Love the breakfasts, watching otters and harbor seals from the dining room. Love that they have binoculars in the window sills to use! Location can't be beat - 5 minute walk to the Aquarium. location was excellent for the Monterrey bay area... beautiful views... great staff... excellent food and service... quaint, relaxing and beautiful. Antique motif meant old style shower (there is a reason we no longer use them) and lavatory in bedroom (period authentic, but a nuisance. Antique chairs and bed we quaint, but bed squeaked and chair creaked/uncomfortable. Terrible mattress. Room was full of different height floors that were tripped over in low light. A front door buzzer (very loud) which went off awaking us from a sound sleep late at night- obviously someone couldn't get in through the front door code system. Please try to have buzzer only sound in owner/host room. That we couldn't afford to stay longer. Coffee not good. That I had to leave after two wonderful days!. Over priced. Stayed an additional 3rd night which booked with hotel staff. Later found out it would have been $70 cheaper for the same room if booked online via letsbookhotel.com. nothing. Noise through walls and ceiling. one of the worst experiences around the world. room extremely loaded with furniture, breakfast consisting of only eggs, no bread at all, not enough parking lots for all guest resulting in parking fines when you park your vehicle on the street.
