I stayed at the annex in the Chelsea last year 2012. the hotel staff was awesome and treated us great. They have 2 pools and pool bars. They also didn't mind us bringing our own alcohol and cooler which a lot of casino hotels wont. My fiancée and I planned another trip this year to Atlantic City and I was going to book a different hotel due to the recent bad reviews of the Chelsea. Im glad I didn'T.... This isn't the Ritz Carlton but the rooms are clean and comfortable and the prices are reason.
all reviews » The stay was good but I had a problem the room I book off line they didn't have the room we wanted! So they gave us another room was not to happy about that. The second day they found a open for the room we wanted!. I loved how friendly and helpful the staff was to me and my friends. My group enjoyed everything about the hotel and it was at a great price. We were close to the boardwalk and many casinos .. i love that there was a shuttle on the corner that takes you to all the casinos. We loved Jerry, the bellhop! We loved the restaurant and staff on the 5th floor. The view from our room was breathtaking!!. the hotel is located right on the Atlantic city strip. Close to beach, 24 hour restaurants and casinos. Very friendly and attentive staff. Bedding was great. Loved the pillows and comforter. You get what you pay for clean, comfortable, convenient, accessible to everything. The balcony, heated swimming pool, breakfast beside the pool. The room was nice and clean. Our balcony was long. Loved it. Everyone was nice and no one bother u. The rooms very good for the price. On the boardwalk, friendly staff. Staff is great. Very friendly. Staff and comfort of the beds. Loved the pools and the cafe. It close everywhere we go!!. Proximity to the Boardwalk. I would have to say out of all the staff, the young lady who checked us in, the Concierge and the Valet parking attendants were the most pleasant employees who showed great customer service and very accommodating. This was my first time staying here. The Check - in staff was real nice. The view from the balcony was fairly nice. Didn't take part in other options like the spa or the pool however I liked how those were offered. On the Beach. Did not have to walk thruough a casino to get outside. Very friendly and helpfull staff. Lobby is very nice. The location was the main reason I chose the Chelsea. Close to the beach and the boardwalk. I liked that it was conveniently located on the boardwalk. bed was comfortable , location great, staff friendly. The staff was friendly & courteous. the king size bed was amazing. I liked the omvionce of the hotel and the fact they have an on sight resteraunt. view of the ocean Note: I transferred to the Chelsea from the Annex. That is was next to tropicana and we were could hang out there. A couple of the bell boys were very helpful and sympathetic. I like the towels and washcloths. The bed was comfortable. The only thing I liked about this hotel was the location. I liked the fact that is was very close to the boardwalk. I've been here before .. I like the other side.. Absolutely nothing....I Got what I paid for and more!!!. I like the pool side with the drinks! They valet parking was great and a reasonable price. The spa down stairs was great! And the breakfast was good. The board walk is right near the hotel. I would go back it was great. The only thing that could be different is there was no full length mirror. My friend and I were trying to get ready to go out and it was a bit upsetting that the only mirror in the whole room was a short bathroom mirror. needs to be painted and a tlc. We did not like the annex....but the original Chelsea rocked!!!. Need proper lighting when women are coming in alone at night. Annex side a little dreary, but comfortable. Elevator old and noisy, you can hear everything going on outside your room. The lack of towels, and the broken bathroom. Everything was great. Put chairs at the beach away too early. Bathrooms were deplorable. We didn't shower there. The room was very dark and it looked like someone died on the cross on the one wall. MisMatched paint and no picture. Nothing.. Too far south on the Boardwalk -- out of the action. the security fee charged to my account. Everything was okay.. The bar at the main hotel didn't open for long. The website made the rooms look much nicer than in person. That when my husband and I first walked through the lobby door the very very strong odor of bleach hit us in the face.It was too strong. Our was room was very pleasant, but the furniture was very dusty. I feel if you are going to have wood furniture, you need to train the cleaning staff how to take care of it properly.The carpet seemed very damp in spots, and I know that because I could feel it through my sock covered feet. It took about 45 minutes for the valet to retrieve my vehicle upon check out. I handed him my ticket & after plenty of others received their vehicles I went back to the window to the same guy who hadn't even grabbed my keys off the wall. Not the best system. Not worth the $15 charge. I went to speak with a manager and nobody was available & nobody has contacted me yet as they stated they would. Very dated hotel, except the Lobby. No safe in the room. Only Ice Machine in the building broken. Pools are small and mostly shaded a week after Labor Day. No towels at the rooftop pool on 85 degree day. Valet Parking only $10 per day with in and out, but felt we had to tip the valet every time to get the car. The room was a bit outdated. Especially the bathroom. There was a lot of noise. people yelling in the room next to mine and people just hanging out in the hallway. One your guest ever knocked on my door several times at 12:30am to ask me for a lighter. This made my daughter very uncomfortable. We didn't feel safe. The beds are uncomfortable. The bathrooms were small. The rooms were outdated and had a old carpet smell. There was definitely no view of the city. The furniture was outdated and looked like it was on its last leg. the build up of the hotel facilities was disappointing when we got there, the room bathrooms were old and outdated, hallway was dingy. 1)The food at the 'diner' restaurant was bad, as well as the service being slow. 2) No bell hop avail at time of check-out. I called, waited 20 min's then called again, they said 15 min's more. I left, dragging my bags. 3)The room was just ok. No refridgerator. the price just to stay overnight .9. The bathroom was very small and the toilet was broken. Also the clicker to the TV barely worked. I think we pay too much for what we got. When I received my vehicle on the drive home I got a flat tire...apprantley they hit the curb in valet destroyed my tire so the my stay wind up costing me just about $500.00 because I had to purchase a new tire!! Very disappointed in the carlessness of this hotel n the individuals they employee!. Poor customer service. Some employees were rude, 2 of the employees at the front desk and 1 of the valet attendants were extremely rude. For the price, the hotel was not horrible, you get what you pay for but it is definitely outdated. Elevators run very slow and during our stay the only eorking ice machine was on the other side of the hotel on the 6th floor. The rooms were dirty. Bathrooms need an update. Upstairs pool wasa big party for younger crowd.....my 36 yr old daughter felt old...... People complained with kids and left.....efficiency of parking,check in,check out, restaurant closed,long lines for no reason. To expensive and high taxes, will never stay there again. The room was very dinghy. The halls were always messy. The was not a fridge in the room. The over all quality of the room did not match the quality of the main entrance/lobby area. The lack of space in the bathroom is very uncomfortable. There also needs to be more than one mirror. the annex is a discredit to the Chelsea. Photos do wonders on the web site. The actual rooms look nothing like the pics. The 1st room I was placed in had 1 window....5 feet up from floor to ceiling. like a prison cell. horrible. The neon lights in the hallway s are horrendous. the second rm was better n had a balcony but was not up to the standard of the Chelsea. Not very happy w my stay there. thank goodness for the rest of Atlantic city. -no clock -charged for parking -no pictures on wall (clerk said all hotel charge their guest for parking) not true -broken parts in room -no standard sized ironing board -leaking and broken faucets -no full sized mirror in room - the hotel does not live up to the price it is charging its customers. - not enough pillows for a king sized bed. - very uncomfortable even. most of these dislikes were in the first room as well as after being moved to another room called an upgrade. Cannnot access your vehicle without having your vehicle brought to you. First room was dirty , dusty around bed behind furniture, dirty bathroom floor, broken dresser drawer, refrigerater door was crooked and not sealed. Had to carry our bags to a new room. I didn't like the location as far as the distance from the casinos. extremely noisy, one floor open directly into a disco, high number of guests under age 25 who were using the whole hotel as a party hotel. The entire place looked like it was a cheap motel , I was surprise that the elevators were working . Once ge got to the hotel the room had a funny smell and the bathroom had yellow spots all over the floor it look like somebody had pee in there. We found the rooms very dirty. Had to be moved out of our first room because of stains on the sheets only to be moved to another room that was also dirty. The room smelt. The head board was full of dust. The hallways were dark and creepy with neon lights. I was scared to walk the halls alone thought I was in a motel. This hotel was pathetic... Holes in the walls, roaches, police with service dogs running up the stairs. (Perhaps drug bust) who knows!!! What I do know is I will never ever stay or recommend this hotel.. The room was very out dated, not enough towels, the staff had walkie talkie on extremely loud in hallway during sleep time and too much of slamming doors while sleeping. Absolutely no advance notices of charge for parking in the garage, especially being a guest in the hotel. Definitely a no no!!. The annex looks in feel old.
