Room was spotless, bed comfortable, quiet area apart from train noise last thing at night. Short walk from train station and also city centre. The room was immaculate and the staff were very helful and friendly.This guest house was a few minutes walk from York city centre. The owner was polite, the room was clean and very comfortable and the breakfast was excellent. Overall a very enjoyable stay and would use this guest house again. all reviews »
Very quiet location, not far into York Centre, good breakfast. Location excellent , staff wonderful , breakfast excellent . The location of the hotel was really good. Also the man running it was very friendly and provided the best full english breakfast I have ever had. The room itself was quite small but provided everything that I needed.Easy access into York itself, only 10min walk. Clean and friendly, good breakfast. We were the only people there, so we were left truly alone. It was blissful.Extremely clean and nicely furnished. The stairs! (But then I live in a bungalow !!) Could be a problem for older guests.A bit too pricey, not suitable for disabled. 1. Should be listed as a Guesthouse - only bandb , no evening meals available - as it was listed as a hotel , I had thought I would be able to get an evening meal there. 2.I booked on-line expecting to get a reasonable deal , paid £90 /night , and when I arrived I was asked to pay in full , and then saw a notice at the entrance quoting £45 /night for identical accommodation (bandb).Not really a negative thing as such but the hotel in general could do with some interior decorating, some walls need a bit of attention. Stayed on top floor, felt like in the loft.Bedroom wasn't very warm - high ceilings and low radiator. Not good when you came out of the shower but fine for being in bed.

St Mary’s is located in the heart of York. Tree Tops is situated close to the river in a quiet side-street. It is a 5-minute walk from all tourist attractions, including York Minster, shops, restaurants and bars.

Travelling information
By Train:
Turn left out of the station and then left into Leeman Road. Cross the road before the overhead bridge and walk down the alley next to the general post office. Turn left at the river and cross over the footbridge. Directly in front of you is St Mary’s car park. Walk along the path to the side of it and at the end is St Mary’s – Tree Tops is at number 21, the 4th house on the right.
By Car:
Whether you are arriving from the North or South, the easiest route is via the Ring Road (A1237).
- Follow the signs to York (North)/Thirsk and turn towards York on the A19.
- Proceed until the 1st set of traffic lights (Clifton Green).
- Drive straight on and you will pass under a pedestrian footbridge.
- St Mary’s is the 3rd turning on the right after the footbridge.
- Tree Tops is on the left-hand side, approximately 230 metres (250 yards) from the main road.
