The Hotel was perfect. Located 10 minutes stroll to York Centre. Hotel itself was of a very high standard. Staff were very friendly. I would recommend eating in the restaurant. It was perfect. All the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Lovely modern feel to a traditional building. Food very good and we thought reasonably priced. Very clean which is very important to us.

Bar service a little slow when staff also serving restaurant but all service very pleasant - and we weren't in a rush.room we had booked was not as booked we booked for 4 poster room with spa bath and at first were given normal room in new building. after stating the the booking was wrong we were given 4poster room in new building this did not contain spa bath but did not spoil our enjoymet of a hotel which I personally would rate higher than 3 star. The room was a little small though it didn't really affect us personally. However, there is no air conditioning in the hotel, and the room became very warm very quickly with no means of cooling it.The only thing which was a disapointment was that the shower did not work. Also still have not made my mind up about the decore in the room, in particular the 4-poster bed which seemed like it had not been finished. Our only complaint would be the noise of the heating/air conditioning system.the only down side to the hotel was the breakfast waiter, he really looked like he didnt want to be there. The room was rather small for a double!. Evening dinner menu. It was a shame that not all of the carpark was for hotel use and some was reserved for private company parking.We missed the small refrigerator which North American hotels of this calibre provide in the room. This is stocked with beer, spirits and soft drinks at bar-room prices and is checked daily to verify consumption. Charges are added to the guest's account.

This luxurious, privately owned hotel is housed in a carefully preserved and sensitively renovated Georgian residence. Many of the building’s beautiful original features and characteristics have been thoughtfully retained and restored, yet the structure has also been sympathetically extended and thoroughly refurbished to integrate the contemporary comforts and facilities demanded by the discerning modern traveller.

At the heart of the building is the atrium with its stunning, original, cantilever staircase and equally amazing bookcase. Here you can put your feet up with a good book or keep in touch, via the subtly concealed computers provided for your use.

Access for disabled guests, wheelchair users and those with reduced mobility is provided, with a number of suitable rooms available. A lift offers access to 24 of the hotel’s 32 rooms.
