quiet surroundings, excellent breakfast. Good facilities and friendly staff.Free wifi, Friendly staff. We stayed in the main house which was clean and although we didn't have a view, the room was great. Having read other peoples reviews on here I was expecting the menu to be severly limited however it was absolutely fine. The breakfast was fantastic. My boyfriend had to have an early start so they organised a 6:30am breakfast for him which was kind. The staff could not have been more helpful.

Neither were available.We were told breakfast was at 7.30 and made plans accordingly. We had travelled all the previous day from Vendee in France arriving at the hotel at 10.45 and were told by bar staff that breakfast would be from 7.30am. I had an appointment in Leeds at 12.00 and thought a substantial breakfast would avoid stopping for a break and allow a slightly later start. On the morning we were told breakfast was from 8.00. If we had know this we would have set off earlier and stopped en-route. The bed way very small for a double. Some of the guests returned in the early hours (3am?) on the Sunday and were very inconsiderate and noisey. Ordered steak and chips and it was served with no musrooms or onion rings and the steak itself was fatty and poor quality. More attention to the cleanliness of rooms after cleaner has been. Lack of basic items in the room such as shampoo / shower gel etc. Room was quite dark but then we weren't there during the day!. The evening meal especially on a Saturday night was not 'special'. very run of the mill. bed very uncomfortable. The 'standard' room we were given (in an annex) had a paper-thin wall, completely unsoundprooofed. We could hear the music from the guests next door and even when they were talking to each other!. Had to change room because window wouldn't close. New room had no privacy blind. Heating was off in May. Cappuccino machine was off at breakfast time!!!. The restaurant staff need more training. The menu was lacking in variety and the meal was of poor standard and certainly not worth the cost. Substance did not match up to style. Waiting staff inexperienced, no veggie selection on dinner menu, winservice lacking in knowledge or finesse. Bedrooms were very small and difficult to move around. The description was 'superior double' but that is not what they were in the attic rooms. Eggs were not prepared or available for breakfast (this was after 0730 am) and then after a request for scrambled they eventually came. Later on my daughters had breakfast and again complained about the availability of eggs dishes. Very poor facilities in room - no air con, no mini bar, only 5 channelson tv, poor choice of toiletries, tea tray kept on the floor in acupboard, no map of fire exits, reported maintenance issues notresolved, etc.I had been double booked and wasn't informed of this until I had a phone call at about 14:30; if I had been going directly to the hotel for check in time, this would have been very inconvenient. The annexe was smelly and the room disgusting.
