The family room in which I stayed with my wife and grown daughters was quite grand, newly-decorated, and with large bathroom. Although lower ground floor, well-lit but private, with fresh, snow-white bedding and good supplies of tea/coffee. I had gone to celebrate my 60th birthday, and the live band outside on the afteroon of our arrival suited my mood in this extrovert location. Otherwise, peace reigned. The facilities were as advertised and excellent value for money, especially on a Ban.
all reviews » We like everything about the place. The staff were always helpful and knowledgeable. Upon arrival we were greeted in a very friendly manner. The food served in the hotel restaurant is better than most external restaurants I've eaten, to the extent that we decided to eat in the hotel on our anniversary rather than go elsewhere. The hotel is ideally situated on the sea front and we spent many a happy hour sat watching the tides come in and out. Weston Super Mare is also ideally suited as a base f. The size of our 4 single bed room was excellent and comfortable even though it was unfortunately a half basement level room, it suited the purpose we needed as we were only visiting to go out for an evening. The beds were super comfortable and the decor and room facilities were to a high standard for the price. The location 5 mins walk from the main bars & clubs was good also and also being next to a multi storey car park was handy as the hotel does not offer customer parking within the boo. This break was booked last minute, arrived at the hotel and was given the key to our room number 205 which looks onto the winter gardens and a sea view. The room and décor was clean and fresh, and the room was warm. I was pleasantly surprised. We paid £39.00 per night and breakfast was £4.95 I think excellent value, I have stayed in other hotels in Weston costing more but not as nice. I would not hesitate to return to this hotel. I liked the fact it was very central the bedroom was very clean and nicely decorated. We like the fact that it was room only as we do not like to get up early for a breakfast and did not have to get out of the room until 11 o clock also being able to get a parking space so near was a bonus too. We were Grandparents with 2 grandchildren ages 5 and 10. Lovely big family room with lovely clean beds and bathroom. Helpful staff at lunch and then breakfast. Unfortunately nobody told us about their own car park we paid for all night. staff were great , all of them from the moment we arrived with my dad who was in a wheelchair they could not have been better, ate in on the Friday night they had a very good singer and the carvery was excellent , would stay again. The staff we met were friendly and helpful, it was just a flying visit though. Did not use bar or restaurant, so cannot comment there. Bed very comfortable, room clean and tidy with Freeview tv which is always nice. I loved the hotel room it was spacious and modern considering we had a quad room, the bathroom was an excellent size too, friendly staff and I love the idea of a night porter as we rolled in at 5am aha!. I liked the location, the bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was very good, and the staff were very friendly and the hotel was in easy access to all of the resort and town centre. Friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and they even let me book in early. The room was small but perfectly formed and clean. The evening meal was very well priced and tasted great. location plus the staff were exceptionally helpful and did their best to accomodate our needs( I visited with disabled son for a family reunion. 6 of us stayed at York hotel). We liked the rooms we would say that they were very spacious,clean,lovely and warm.The Staff were very friendly,the food was very good,and we would stay there again. The whole weekend was relaxing which is what we both needed. Staff were easy to talk to, friendly and helpful. This was our first visit and will not be our last!!. Location was good, we came for the night carnival and found that the position of the York was very good. The meal we ate in the hotel and the breakfast was nice. If anything, my only gripe was that the hotel is not that nice distinctive gold/orange colour anymore, its been repainted a beige/mushroom colour and blends in with all the other hotels now. I thought although the reception desk was tiny, the staff were excellent once we'd found the reception staff that is. Car parking cost £8.50 per 24 hours and was a short walk away at another hotels car park. Please for all the bedtime readers could there be some reading lamps!. Our room was facing the Sandringham Hotel..the room was very noisy and kept me awake with what I think was their air conditioning. It started up at 7 in the morning a loud droning noise. I am glad is wasnt staying on a week day as a lot of building work was going on. I would like to stay again but not put in the same room. There was nothing I took issue with. One suggestion would be a publicised luggage holding facility. i.e check out at 11.00 am, then have to drag your suitcase round Weston until leaving at say 6.00pm. That was a pain. So if it was clear, that you could check out and then pick up your luggage 4 or 5 hours later.....great. the shower cubicle was rather small, that's it. Check out time. Insufficient lights in all bedrooms, some rooms much better than others plus my matress was past its sell by date!. Having only limited time--though we did extend the stay with an extra night. We do not have any negatives with the York Hotel, we ate in the hotel and it was very nice. Nothing. That I had to pay £8.50 to park overnight although it was cheaper than the £10 everywhere else was charging. Was nothing I didn't like. nothing. I enjoyed my stay. There was nothing I disliked about this hotel. On the hottest day of the year our small bedroom's radiator was on! At our request a pleasant young man came with a shifting spanner to turn it off but sadly this wasn't a total success and the radiator still felt very warm intermittently so we took the gamble of being murdered in our beds and propped our door open all night to try and get some sleep . We survived!!!!. Parking was a bit pricey. Had to use a local carpark. Would of bin nice to have hotel parking. Having to be out of the room by 10am. having to remake the bed because sheets where inside out, stains on matress with no protecter saggin mattress, an the shower was not very powerfull. The single room was a bit small and needed a touch of paint, but didn't put us off at all!. Lack of yogurt and muesli for breakfast!. only seamed to have one beer on tap not good for the real ale drinker. £8.50 parking was expensive. the position of our room was not the best we had the noise of the fan from the kitchen they only have venition blinds no curtains so its not very dark at night and i think they could do with double glazing or some sort of sound proofing deco needs some updating but thats not important enough to complain about. Our room was in the basement between the kitchen and the cleaners cupboard, with a lovely view of the back of a brick wall! Only a few rooms actually have sea views, most are to the side or underground. Bed was uncomfortable with ripped and stained quilt cover. Perhaps should have booked de-luxe instead of standard. built-in furniture was a bit diy, although the shower room was well decorated and clean,the shower internal area was small and the electric shower control was a bit eratic. Nothing !. n/a. the stairs? so i used the lift. There was nothing to dislike about the hotel. batghroom didnt have toilet roll holder television could of been on a swivel. room too hot, hot water pipe around floor making it hotter did not sleep all night, had to wet towel 4 times just to cool down,am coming back to Weston in aug if it is hot not sure about hotel unless some sort of cooling system is available if it wasent for that I would rate you higher. shower bit on the small size other than that we hard a good stay. The waiting staff were unhelpful apart from the evening barman. The parking Is expensive at the neighboring hotel. The fact that breakfast wasn't included in the price of the room. The room was very dated and needs updating and also the bathroom was ludicriously tiny (the sink was up against my nose as I say on the toilet!!). I felt it was not value for money. The hotel allowed you to pay a fee of £ 8.50 to park in the nearby Royal Hotel carpark, however there were limited spaces and it was full up. After waiting over half an hour we went in the NCP right next to the hotel which cost £10 for the night but was more convienient and secure as it was locked overnight. The hotel should not offer parking spaces when there are none available. This ruined the start of our stay as it was very annoying wasteing time trying to park. Shower was cold in the morning no radio on the tv.
