Excellent service able to change booking 3 times with no trouble at all.The fact that despite the hotel kitchen being closed by the time I arrived, I was still able to get a hot meal.all reviews
Happy friendly outgoing staff :) always willing to help.Staff were very friendly and polite.Conveniently situated next to Saxon Hall. Comfortable room and very good breakfast.parking was excellent and the hotel was very clean. Excellent breakfast. The staff were very helpful. As a family group staying in the week we were I think unusual as hotel was full of business people. The exec doubles were very comfortable and hotel quiet.I liked the area, was nice and quite, hotel staff were very helpfull, would stay there again and recomend the hotel to my friends and family.it was all we needed for our business trip somewhere comfortable and clean. Quiet. The friendliness of the staff with the exception of 2 people who are not suited to the job they are doing because they were negative, offhand and sometimes very rude. The food was above average for that category of hotel. The hotel staff are going through a time of uncertainty due to the expansion plans for Southend Airport.Ease of finding hotel as its sign posted, Excellent price. Breakfast was good value as its included in price.I like the friendly staff and the food is excellent and the rooms are clean.Nice big room. Staff generally helpful. Breakfast good on day 2.Beds reasonable size, breakfast amazing, not a bad hotel.fantastic breakfast. The restaurant and communial areas we're friendly and very beutiful.Good parking and good breakfast. Room comfy.Relaxing atmosphere. Close parking next to room (security). Breakfst Buffet well cooked, hot. Hotel all very clean and comfortable. The staff pleasant and helpful. It was very convienent for my purpose of visiting Southend.Food was good. The waiter on the Saturday evening was excellent.Staff were very helpful and the location was easy to get to.Service at the front desk was good. The members of staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was satisfactory.dining room good, front desk good, bar good, breakfast very good and plenty of it.convenient to where we were going.Good breakfast, quiet. Staff were good. Good Breakfast. The breakfast was good. The rooms were clean. Reception had the tv fault fixed quickly. The staff were freindly and it was quite easy to find. Good parking, room clean, toiletries provided.Pleasant Staff. Excellent Breakfast.Location and late bar. bed was comfortable and good size. ample parking. clean room. Nothing. Location near the airport suited me. Problem with this place is that the airport is about the only thing close to it there is nothing else within walking distance for people having a budget break/holiday to get antwhere they would have to drive/taxi. Regarding business users the Hotel is not upto sufficient standard.Breakfast. Not sure about the outside colour. nothing related to the hotel, just that it would be better if nearer of Southend Center. I did not like the bed as it was way too soft in the middle.Overall Inside decoration looking a bit tired but very good value for an overnight stay. slight rumbling noise could have been the heating but it did not disturb us too much. bathroom needed up dating, like going back in time!!. Breakfast was advertised on everything as running until 9.30 but when we arrived to eat at 8.50 we were told is stopped at 9 but the staff were happy to wait and serve us (we suspect this happens a lot!). Have to say the beds were not comfortable nor were the pillows, did not have a good night sleep. The uncertainty of the future of the hotel and the negativity of some staff because of it. I will be disappointed if I cannot stay there on my next visit to Southend because I enjoyed my stay there and bonded well with most of the staff. I visit Southend 3/4 times each year because I have a son and 2 granddauhters in that area. The bath room and deco was very 80's. Too many flower prints. I would say the bathrooms in the rooms need improving. Walls are a little thin, could hear everything said in the next room. Breakfast over cooked on day 1.staff at front desk really rude, drinks at bar super expensive.just the pillows and the headboard situation was very uncomfortable to sit up in bed. Which I have to do to take medication before I can get up in the morning. The restaurant is bit worn and the dining chair seat pads are dirty withfood stains, etc.Our night was disturbed by a group arriving at 3.30am; loudtalking, laughing and giggling and banging of doors that went on untilapproximately 5am.The bar prices are quite high for certain drinks, more expensive than some night clubs! The staff are slow in serving people both in the bar and at times in reception and the rooms could do with an overhaul. My room had a loose window sill, wallpaper was coming away, the control panel for the lights which was between the two beds was a good two inches off the wall, could see all the wires etc.very limited bar menu. Staff at the front desk were inefficient and at times appeared not to care. The room was outdated, decor needed changing and beds replacing.
Evening meals in the restaurant were very disappointing.check in took ages, 2 staff on duty, can't believe it took so long to sort things out. Also surrounding area very unappealing, overgrown and unattractive views. we were intending to go to the hotel nightclub but were informed on check in that this was closed for refurbishment. please give wider choice on bar snacks menu. The rooms, however, were extremely dated and in desperate need of refurbishment. The carpets were very faded and stained with a number of cigarette burns. The bed covers were also worn with a number of burns on them. I would have preferred duvets to blankets. The bathrooms also needed updating as they were very shabby. My cousin's bathroom had a number of loose tiles and discoloured grouting.had to ask for a tv remote and towels ,bathroom very tatty, no lighting in the corridor. There was no kettle in the room, advised to reception that there was not one, reception rsaid would replace, on leaving the hotel there was still no kettle. Scruffy bathroom, needs work. Breakfast crockery not cleared away after being used. The whole dining room was cluttered with no one at all clearing tables. The quality of the room was poor in comparison to Premier Travel Inn and Innkeepers lodges. Shabby fittings in the room. Disjointed accomodation blocks. Lack of attention to detail. The Hotel was not quite as nice as the pictures led you to believe. The cushions on the dining rooms chairs were old and worn out.Water I believe should be freely available in a jug on tables and not have to be bought in a bottle. The vegetable and pasta bake was very plain to look at and eat. It had no colour or interest just layers of green beans and pasta disappointing to receive at the table but edible. The bathroom towels were thin and rough to use.The stay was ok but I personaly didn't think it was worth £85.00 a nightI have stayed in cheeper hotels with better rooms. The bathroom was outdated and needed a good clean and the cold water was from a tank notmains which as there was tea and coffee making facilitys is notacceptable.Bar was dark, decoration tired, staff slow.Room in poor condition, smelt musty, hole in ceiling, water damage tochair and floor. Carpet stained and hole in net curtain no tap on bidetdoor to entrance of block unlockable. The fact that the rooms are not connected to the main hotel, we were in the furthest block away on a rainy weekend. spent day out, returned at 2200hrs to find our room had not been cleaned and made up.kitchen. staff didnt inform about breakfast arrangements we missed breakfast as it was nearly ten when we arrived so we didnt get any food. dated and tired. bedspread was not clean. far from centre of town -10 min drive.shabby.Reception staff were useless. I stood in front of him for more than 5 minutes whilst he was on the phone advising someone of how to get their musical equipment checked and certified so they could use it at the hotel. Has this man never had any customer service training? The hotel looks like something out of Crossroads mixed with a really dodgy Roman Villa and run by idiots. I'd rather sleep in the car. Dated, Facilities,Menu's poor. Hotel looked tatty it looked like it was in a very overgrown field. The net curtains were dirty and torn the chairs were very stained,we only had one towel even though it was a double room.We booked two rooms and the same was for the additional room. The grass outside of the window looked nearly waist high.
