What people say
This is a wonderful bed and breakfast in Sidbury just 3 miles from
Sidmouth and the seashore in Engand. That came in handy to get away from
the revelry of the folk festival we were attending. While not a view of
the shore, one still gets a nice view of the village and surrounding
countryside. A bus gets you to the town in no time. The staff is Roz and
her son Luke -- and they do everything. The rooms are bright cheerful
with whimsical artwork on the walls reflecting the sea. The beds are

Beautifully decorated and everything one would expect from an historic cottage in the English countryside. The owner did everything to make me feel at home and the breakfasts were plentiful, offered a wide choice and were well-cooked and presented. The bedroom was spacious and very tastefully furnished in a traditional yet understated way which perfectly suited the historic nature of the house. Of particular note were the many hand-made dolls' houses displayed lovingly in the communal areas of .
What a lovely welcome we were given by Ros and Luke when we arrived earlier than we should have; this is an absolute gem of a place, nothing was too much trouble, everything in the room worked as it should, the breakfast was superbly cooked and the views were simply stunning. Buses run roughly every hour into Sidmouth and operate right up until almost midnight so no need to use the car.
Very clean and comfortable
Friendly owners
Easy to find and parking available
Close to village shop
Few mins in car to seaside and not too far to other seaside locations
Nothing too much trouble for owner
Plenty of coffee, tea, milk, biscuits and even sweets in the room
Will return!.
from start to finish we were made to feel so at home and welcome. we had a free reign. Roz was so warm and friendly and we would not hesitate in recommending Rose Cottage to friends and famly and will definatley be returning in the future.
The ancient cottge had been charmingly updated with en-suite shower etc without losing the charm - rolling floor going a bit up and down. The people are very friendly and helpful. The food is excellent. Very comfortable.
Lovely stay. Charming cottage, excellent staff and service. Breakfast delicious! Easy access to Sidmouth by bus and car. Dog friendly and homely, quintessentially English. Will definitely recommend and visit again.
We had the kingsize room. Quiet, spacious, tastefully decorated. The breakfast was excellent. Place to park and own front door key. Very friendly owners. Large garden. We and our dog were made most welcome.
A charming and comfortable guest house, well situated on the main road. Our room was very well appointed and the beds comfy. Breakfast was excellent and the staff/owners were very friendly, helpful and obliging.
I liked the fact that I could come and go at any time of the day despite the fact that it was only bed and breakfast. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful and the bed was really comfy.
Very friendly, good sized bedroom. Very good home cooked breakfast. Nice little touches like gingerbread men and hot chocolate drink with the tea/coffee making facilities in the room.

fantastic breakfast, friendly and helpful gestkeepers.
Everything - welcome, cleanliness, food, comfort.
Quiet little village with handy public transport.
Lovely setting, handy for East Devon footpath.
Very homely comfortable and superb breakfast.
The Saniflow system in the bathroom was very noisy, but to have the luxury of an en-suite bathroom in a cottage of this age it is quite understandable that such a device is necessary.
No negatives whatsoever, recommended without hesitation.
Having to come home!.
there was nothing not to like.
I liked everything about it and consider myself very lucky / clever to find it.
The only slight problem for my friend was traffic noise as he was in the front of the cottage.
Can't think of anything we didn't like.
There was a strange water system which made a lot of noise. This was not such a problem, but we couldn't get the shower to work.
The ONLY downside was that my room overlooked a main road and I could not open a window at night.
Ensuite was was small but housed a good sized shower, which is much better than having a shower over a bath. They had to use a saniflow for the waste which was a bit noisy. More quite units are coming available.
I liked everything about Rose Cottage.
The bus service to Sidmouth is very never on time and only it only runs every hour, but apparently Sidbury are lucky to still have a bus running as some other local areas now don't have a bus service.
We would have preferred a later breakfast option, as it is served between 8 and 9am which is early when you are trying to have a relaxing break.
The fact I had only booked 3 nights.
Our only problem was that we didn't have our own transport and the bus comes through the village only once every hour.
Nothing.
Not much we didn't like! Small parking. Note that B&B is in Sidbury, not Sidmouth.
Nothing as everything is spot on.
No comments in this section as there was nothing to dislike.
En suite rather small for one tall person; room became very hot - although to be fair, as the temperature outside was -2, they probably turned up the heating!! We opened the windows.
There was nothing to dislike.
Nothing.
N/A!.
A little too far to walk to Sidbury and Sidmouth although there was a good bus service.
Nothing to dislike.
Nothing. It was perfect.
Nothing.
Lack of socket for electric shaver.
(unless I couldn't find it!) Not informed that evening meals need to be pre-booked.
No complaints but where did the picture come from? It is very
misleading.
Nothing.
Nothing.
soft bed.
Room was very small although this was clear when we booked. Road to Sidbury was blocked at Newton Poppleford and it is worth checking this before travelling.
Couldn't fault the accommodation.
