Grosvenor House Hotel is located in the central part of Sheffield, close to the train station. I was almost convinced I was at home. I cannot praise your Sheffield Grosvenor House Hotel highly enough forthe express reason that you catered for the smoker. Thank you for thisand please never change this policy. It is only fair and right but somany Hotels now ban it throughout that my stays are often miserablebecause I cannot smoke in my room. The fascism of the anti-smoking lobbyseems to know no bounds. I didn't stay at the hotel my daughter and her friends were booked in for two nights, they had a fantastic time and have booked again. Thankyou. Very conveniently placed city centre hotel, with undercover parking in a car park that was locked at night. Hotel is very central which is why we booked it.The staff were extremely helpful and the room was very clean.Appreciated the never ending supply of hot water after all the walking.it is so close to the nightlife/ shopping area. Very clean and quiet.Good parking system.Very helpful and freindly. Very comfortable bed. Able to park free in Sheffield City Centre. I have put that I would recommend this hotel, as it is what it is...a decent place to stay overnight (the bed was very comfy!) and for a room priced at £54 for 2 people it's fairly reasonable.The size of the room and the geographical position of the hotel was first rate, as was the ease of car parking in the city centre. Helpful front desk, friendly breakfast staff. Room a good size and layout which enabled me to work during the afternoon.The hotel offers all mod cons, but has preserved something of an old fashioned (in a positive sense) atmosphere. The Hotel is "rather tired" and in need of modernisation.you had to wait a while outside for the night porter to let you in... not great in december when its cold. main entrance is dowdy. no draught beer at bar.Rough, uninviting main entrance. Generally the decor was tired-looking and the carpet in my room was stained. just the decor needs a lick of paint. Not enough snack options and no dinner.The shower was a little unorthodox, in that it was simply a bent metal bar with a tiny shower head attached to it! For myself and my wife it didn't make getting ready to go out very easy. The hotel looks ready for re-decorating, breakfast was expensive and the rooms are not double-glazed, sounds from the street are a problem.The main public areas (by the bar etc) were chilly, so we did not come to the bar. I came down to breakfast at 8 am and much of the food was a bit cold. I get up at 5 am, which means that either you take a cold shower or waste loads of water while waiting till the 'hot stuff' comes up from deep down.The pedestrian entrance-way on the ground floor was messy, draughty and extremely uninviting, with no staff nearby to help. It took me ages to work out that I needed to go to the 2nd floor to check in. I think there may have been a small notice somewhere but if so I didn't see it for a long time. It needs a very big sign saying 'Welcome', with large, clear and kindly instructions !. It was a bit dated and shabby but for the price and size of the rooms you cant really moan. Breakfast could have been a bit better as seemed to be limited choice - later realised that some items had run out/not been topped up (tomatoes, egg). We were in a hurry so didn't have time to ask at the time. hotel smelt of cigarette smoke. Breakfasts expensive. the doors too heavy and difficult to open, so make much noises. Room Door lock kept jamming. I like walking up stairs rather thanusing a lift but after the 3rd floor it looked a bit shabby. Hotel is in need of refurbishment but was clean and very good value for money,. Bit run down and shabby looking.The hotel is in need of a major refurbishment. Our car was damaged in the car park during our stay. the hotel bar was shut because of a wedding :( i would have preferred prior warning of this as we had to change our plans. our normal routine of staying away is to chill out in the hotel bar during the afternoon before we go out. Hotel is "tired" and dated.Decor starting to look tired and dated. Entrance to hotel very unappealing. Faded and shabby for the price. The whole fabric of the building needs a complete overhaul. We werelooking forward so much to staying but just felt the whole place wasshabby and decrepid. That is the reputation too. We were up for thenational swimming event at Ponds Forge and amongst the 'regulars' it wasnot a place they would consider staying in. Also felt the price was wayover the top given the state of the buildin. hotel although clean was very dated ,rooms and hotel in general could do with modernising,two minor gripes bar not staffed (had to waited for staff member to be paged)this happened twice and although menu displayed for evening meal no staff around to take order ,so went and ate in town centre.

- At the roundabout, take the 3rd exit. The hotel is on the right at the next roundabout (Charter Square).

- Drive past the front of the hotel. At the traffic lights, turn left.
