It was a bit of a hike up the 6 flights of stairs to our room. a tv in the lounge would have been nice save sitting in your room all the time at night. heating was a little varied sometimes to hot, sometimes to cold as it was a new system, was addressed and dealt with. No evening meal facility, but did not hinder our stay plenty of options local and discounts offered by manager. The bed was a little small for a double !. we were on the top floor and it was hard work could do with a lift. Would have liked the hotel to provide evening meals. WE were upgraded to the premier suite which was great except there were tow showers in the bathroom and both of them were rubbish. Cold room, memory foam matress and would of liked breakfast a bit earlier than 8.30am all in all though a nice enjoyable hotel. Could have just done with the room being bigger for a family of 5.There was no evening meal available. No bar. Mini bar was expensive should be included in price. you will need to be fit to reach the top room 62 steps to the summit. too many steps. the fact that the premier rooms were at the very top of the hotel up six flights of stairs and after breakfast there was another flight of stairs because it was in the basement and at 65 yrs old I found it a bit of an effort getting up all those stairs. Breakfast disappointing. Packed into small dining room. No vegetarian option, juices not fresh. Restaurant recommendations out of date, went to one recommended supposed to give discount but didnt. Bedroom too small, not enough room to get round bed. Not much space in en suite.Room allocated was rather small and on the top floor with no lift. We suffered plumbing problems which could not be rectified. To compensate we were upgraded for the last night as the hotel was not full, but I would have been very unhappy if this had not occurred. single room was very small. very small shower .Not good value for money. Not possible to have breakfast before 8.30 on the sunday.shower broken very small room working all over hotel painting ect. The room in which my friend and i stayed was adequate, but the bathroom was badly plannned with a very small shower, which would have been unusable by anyone over average size. My sister (who booked her single room doirectly with the hotal) had a room so small she had to ask to move to a larger one, at considerable cost.Cold shower water in the morning/unmade room/shoebox bathroom.

Travelling information

On arriving in Scarborough follow the signs for the South Bay. The famous Esplanade is the road that runs behind and above the Spa. The Mansion House Hotel is near the centre of the Esplanade at No 45 about 50 metres past the cliff-lift. A location map can be printed from the back page of the hotel web site. The bus and rail station are about 3 km away and can be walked on a nice day but with luggage it is probably better to take a taxi. However, if you decide to walk come out of the bus / railway station follow the road down to the main road and turn right. Head across the metal bridge and turn up the road with the Granville Hotel on the left hand side. This is the Esplanade, we are No 45 which is about 300 metres along.
