Good for a manual site workers stop over. Location is good. Staff are helpful. Price is good. The hotels feels like a large manor house and is bursting with charm, which is a nice change from the clinical feel of other hotels in the price range. Have stayed before and will probably stay again. The staff are friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is relaxed.Staff was very polite and helpful. it was very close tot he town. Convenience. I am sure that the occupiers had been smoking in the room Breakfast tables were only for a maximum of 2 people even though we had a 3 person room. The sink was in the main room, not in the en-suite. There was no cold running water. The hotal did not provide food other than breakfast.The room was very dated -peeling paint in the bathroom - wardrobes which were stuck closed - damaged bath and sink - and generally very tired - the room smelt musty and of stale smoke - however the linen etc was clean and the bed comfortable -. Even though the room was clean it could have done with updating. The carpet in the bathroom was a little mouldy and damp in places. Sofa was stained too. My husband could not get any cold water from the tap. When we walked in it definately smelled like people had been smoking in there!. A noisy boiler clicking on intermitently through the night meant a broken nights sleep. Dirty clothes left in a drawer from a previous client. Reported that the rad in the bathroom was not working - nothing done about this. Booked an early morning call for the first morning and did not get one. Did not book another early morning call but got one the next morning.It was alright for one night, but very basic.- Hence 2 star. Very old fashioned, needs to be re-decorated throughout. "Tired" - needs spucing up. The lights did not work in our room or our bathroom.The breakfast was appalling. Heating in room didn't work - it was freezing!. THe curtains not fixed properly on the rail, very faded and very worn. It was shabby, the breakfast was poor and greasy, the decor was tired,it was too expensive.

All our rooms are en suite, and have a TV and tea/coffee making facility. Some of our rooms look across the common and some across the town.
We have 5 studio suites, which have a kitchenette with toaster, fridge, sink and microwave. These rooms also come with sofa, desk, and free internet connection. These rooms are in the annex building and are very popular with people who are working in the town for a long time and want a homely feeling. Many people leave the car in the hotel park to go to work in the town (parking is free for our guests).

Tunbridge Wells is connected to London by a frequent train service taking less than an hour. The hotel is a 3 minute taxi ride or a 10 minute walk from the station.
By Car
- Tunbridge Wells is about an hour’s drive from London and Heathrow Airport, and less from Gatwick Airport.
From the M25 motorway:
- At junction 5 of the M25 turn off onto the A21.
- Take the A21 Southbound (signposted Hastings) for about 8 miles, following signs for Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells.
- Take the A26 into Tunbridge Wells. In the town at the first mini-roundabout, turn right (signposted East Grinstead and through-traffic).
- Continue past Kent and Sussex Hospital and approximately 400 m later on down the hill, with the common on your right-hand side, the Russell Hotel is on your left on a corner (junction with Lime Hill Road).
- Turn left down the road before the Hotel (‘no through road’). At the no entry sign, turn right into the hotel car park.
