Boasting fantastic food, wines chosen by an award-winning expert sommelier, and luxury rooms, this gastropub is located in the old market town of Romsey. Set in pretty gardens, The Cromwell Arms provides free Wi-Fi and free parking.
Freshly prepared dishes made with local produce are served in the pub. Food ranges from classic, hearty British dishes to creative cuisine including pork tenderloin wrapped in Parma ham, or fillet of cod topped with Welsh rarebit. The wine list is thoughtfully picked to match the food, and wines of the week or month are available.
Individually designed, each stylish room overlooks the countryside and includes an en suite bathroom. Guests can relax with a flat-screen TV and tea and coffee in the room.
The River Test is just a short walk from The Cromwell Arms, and the natural beauty of New Forest National Park is only a 5-minute drive away. Southampton and its cruise terminals are 15 minutes’ drive from the gastropub, while Winchester and Salisbury are both a 20-minute drive.

This is a great Hotel. samall enough to be wecolming but with a real touch of quality about the whole place, I have used it twice now to stay on business trips in and around the Romesy / Southampton area. The Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, the rooms are of an very high specification and the food is good gastropub type fayre. Highly recommend.
The staff, paticularly the Manageress, were professional and friendly. Our room was very comfortable and well-designed.
letsbookhotel.com hand not passed on our reservation to the hotel, so they weren't expecting us. However, the Manageress handled the situation exceptionally well and gave us an upgraded room as a result.all reviews »
The staff were great, friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome.
Excellent customer service.
The room was comfortable, stylish and spotless and so was the bathroom.
The breakfasts were gorgeous and we had dinner one night also which was really lovely.
The outdoor area was stylish and relaxing.
The room was lovely, very clean and
extremely comfortable. The staff were
excellent, very friendly and helpful.
Would not hesitate to return or recommend to anyone wishing to stay
in the area.
Unfortunately we were only staying one night but hopefully we will stay
longer on our next visit.
The Staff were excellent.
The food was very good.
Manager Daniel was superb, a major incident occured on the Saturday evening when he had TWO large parties in, he handled the situation extremely well and professionally, we were impressed. (We were not members of the parties).
We thoroughly enjoyed the very helpful and courteous staff who could not do enough to make us welcome. The setting is lovely and it was very convenient for us as we wanted to visit Winchester before leaving the same day from Southampton on a cruise.
Service was excellent! Very friendly and helpful. We were 4 couples down for a family wedding, one with a young baby. Food in the restaurant was really good but it was the overall help and support we got from everyone which was brilliant.
Really lovely room, absolute luxury.
We had a fantastic evening meal and the Manager recommended drinks and food which complemented each other.
The service and food were excellent and the restaurant felt cosy. We will be going back.
Most welcoming Pub/Hotel. Nice approach through landscaped
courtyard, very friendly reception, beautifully designed rooms with
comfort in mind. Particularly liked the shower room! Dinner was of a
very high standard, a real bonus!.
staff great, location very good, rooms had everything required and were decorated in a high standard with quality finish. food in pub/ restaurant very good and lovely courtyard for good weather - also dog friendly in some areas.
Very nice place to stay, very comfortable rooms although very hot as it was the hottest day of the Year, quite a bit of road noise. Food mainly good, variety good. Good location for Peppa Pig World, child friendly.
Lovely comfortable rooms overlooking rear garden with luxury ensuite. Friendly and helpful staff throughout the Pub. Excellent food and service. 10 minute walk from the Village centre. Will definitely go back.
The room was very good, a good size and tastefully finished and furnished. Lovely towels and great mirror. All the staff were lovely, even the cleaners, and their breakfast was well presented and nicely cooked.
Great staff, good food and well appointed rooms. The rooms are of a high standard. There Wifi service needs help but to be fair that's BTs problem . All in all good place at a good price.
Fluffy large white towels, fridge, soft bed and pillows, robes, great shower, clean, and new, room high spec, lots of attention to detail, great lights, excellent shower,.
The staff were extremely friendly and nothing was to much trouble. The accommodation and facilities were exceptionally clean. Breakfast was very well thought through.
Rooms were lovely, clean & cozy. The staff couldnt do enough to help & the food was excellent. We definitely be going back.
Good quality of the overall design of the public rooms and particularly of the bedrooms which were large and the luxury accessories.
Good, comfortable accommodation and excellent food. Friendly and attentive staff. Easy access to a number of locations.
The reception we had was first class. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The service and food was excellent.

Good restaurant
Good price.
Room was clean well laid out and comfortable.
Nice food, good atmosphere, lovely room.
good real ale and good food. nice rooms.
Room was comfortable and well designed.
The room, the meals and the staff.
Everything.
Everything.
Can't think of anything really. If I was staying for a week, a gym would have been nice but I'm just trying to think of things!.
Some chairs in the restaurant were not very comfortable, back of legs on hard top of chair legs.
The was nowhere for guests to relax outside of their room (Lounge area), especially galling as there was only one chair on our room.
Nothing, no really, nothing!.
letsbookhotel.com had booked us in for the night before, which led to the
hotel initially charging for non-show. However, this was quickly resoled
by the manager when we showed our booking documentation. We were very
lucky that they had two rooms available for the night we had actually
booked! Please take note!.
The service on the first day was excellent we were well cared for on arrival and the evening meal.
Unfortunately the second day not so good different staff and the third day breakfast service not so good again different staff.
There wasn't anything we didn't like about our weekend stay.
One bedside table and a desk on the other side with a chair, the only place to sit or throw clothes other than the bed. It was a big room which could have taken a settee.
Internet access poor and intermittent .
Service very slow in restaurant not staff fault not enough staff to deal with diners. On waking lots of outside on going noise from 6.am sounded like the loud drone of a generator.
The menu was disappointingly bland similar to pub lunch, the quality of the facilities I would have expected a Fine Dining menu.
Suspect the "devilled squid" as a starter was cause of upset stomach during night.
Three was nothing we did not like.
nothing as everything that could be done, is already done.
nothing.
Door didn't work properly on our room
Sky Sports didn't work on the TV in the rooms.
Nothing.
The wait for breakfast Sunday morning and only half the food put out for the buffet. It was as though the whole place was still recovering from Saturday night!.
Intermittent Internet connection.
Rooms would benefit from air conditioning. Food could be improved.
The room was relatively convenient but the bed wasn't.
Service in the restaurant at breakfast was appalling with much of the food not available and service very slow. 1.5 hours to get breakfast is not acceptable.
Room was very hot and window only opened a crack - a fan in the room would have been nice, otherwise perfect.
nothing.
