excellent breakfast !!! - shame it wasnt included in the room price though. Within reasonable walking distance to main shopping area. Very well appointed hotel, lots of facilities. The restaurant was excellent.Quality of refurbishment excellent. Room really nice. Pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed the friendly staff, and the very cosy room, will use again.Location (near to town centre and railway station) free parking.

Buy more batteries for the keyboards !!. For the price of the room (4*) we were disappointed to be looking directly into the car park so were unable to have the curtains open due to people parking being able to look directly into our room. However, this would not stop us from booking here in the future. Fire doors and floors a bit noisy when people walk about atnight/early morning. I did not like paying 5.40gbp for a glass of diet pepsi in the bar!!!. Noise of planes; did not receive the wake-up call we asked for. The bar had a really bad smell. Like a dirty mop or cloth had been used to clean the tables. Was most unpleasant.. v. surprised none of the staff noticed it? But we all did..room fob did not work every day and had to be reset. Bit frustrating as we have a small child. Room a bit too small but nice nonetheless. check-in staff could not direct me effectively to my room, however check-out was fine. Had to change room. The room was incredibly hot, even with the heating off and the windows open, don't know why, may be because Novemember was unusually mild that day.Old hotel as in cultured. But many floorboards are creaky - woke me up on last morning. This could be fairly easily rectified. Meant to mention to hotel staff but I was in a hurry. Slow check-in - despite arriving at 3pm there was no room immediately available. No mini bar in room - had to traipse to bar for a drink (at other side of hotel) or order via room service and pay a £2.50 tray charge on top of drink cost. Also was given room at back which had construction outside window - when works are ongoing, might be an idea to place guests at the front of the hotel if poss.Saturday night there was a wedding reception right next door so music beat through the walls until early hours. Room was too small with inadequate wardrobe space, but others in the party had more larger sized rooms so assume it was just the luck of the draw. On reflection should have voiced objection to size of room when first arriving. Have stayed in three lower cost hotels since last weekend at Richmond (including Holiday Inn) and all of them had significantly larger rooms.Decorating in progress but caused no problem to me. still a bit pricey,but that's Richmond prices! I think it was poor that they had no set menu at the raher pricey restaurant - we ended up driving back to Sunbury to eat! Still a very pleasant stay overall.small bed. Car parking. bed too hard. The rooms were not ready at 3pm even though the hotel says you can check in from 2pm.We did feel quite cramped in our hotel room and with the building site, aeroplanes and boiling kettle, it was quite noisy. Character building meant room access difficult up stairs and along narrow winding corridors.Not aware of cost of breakfast so ate in London.

By Car (from the M25 junction 15 and the M4):
- Leave the M4 motorway at junction 2 and take the A205 towards Kew.
- Cross the Kew Bridge to Richmond.
- At the roundabout junction with the A316, head towards the town centre, taking the 1st left onto Church Road opposite the Orange Tree pub.
- Carry on along Church Road, crossing straight over the traffic lights.
- At the end of Church Road, bear left, then take an immediate right onto Friar Stile Road.
- At the end of Friar Stile Road, bear left, continuing up Richmond Hill.
- The hotel is on the left-hand-side.

By Car (from the M25 junction 12 and the M3):
- Follow the M3 onto the A316 to Richmond.
- At the roundabout junction with the A316, head towards the town centre, taking the 1st left onto Church Road opposite the Orange Tree pub, then follow the instructions above.

By Train:
The hotel is approximately one mile (1.6 km) from Richmond station, which is on the District line (dark green) of the London Underground network. Main line National Rail over-ground trains also run regularly from and to Richmond station with the station offering direct access by rail to Waterloo, Windsor and Eton Riverside, Kingston and Reading stations.
