What people say
I liked the convenience of its location, the size of the room and the excellence of the public rooms. the relaxed atmosphere, room size, free internet, avalability of literature to read and location. great location. Location, full of character, piano, internet access, best of all - the stunning views. The great view of the River Thames from our top-floor room. The breakfast was described as 'continental'. My wife and i were surprised to find it so good!. all reviews »
View upon the Thames, charm of an old place, perfect location, nicebreakfast, typically british. Lovely views overlooking Thames. Location ideal for walks, getting to Twickenham and shops. The room was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.charming, decor, historic nature of facility, gardens. friendly staff. great breakfast ! comfortable beds. The full breakfast was superb. Breakfasts were excellent. Very eclectic - a bit like Faulty Towers! We loved it. The view from our bedroom was beautiful. The staff were very friendly. The room was very clean, the staff were very helpful and the location was good. convenience to Richmond, River Thames, riverside walks and good restaurants. Everything – very conveniently located. Nice feel and kind, helpful staff. Easy going atmosphere, good location, lovely view of the river. Different from usual plastic hotels. Views of the Thames .Beautiful lounge. Quaint Gallic touches. Quaintness of the place. Location.River view, good location. Nice atmosphere. Very arty. Rooms are spacious, staff very friendly, very laid back and nice. Helpful staff. Room was traditional but good enough space for single, though bed wastwin. In corridors there were many interesting pictures. Registrationstaff friendly and breakfast served as much as I could eat on time.Convienent to Themes reiver walk and visiting Kew garden. The views from the room were lovely and it was nice to stay in a hotel with a bit of character.Very helpful staff. Good parking facilities. Its location and the building. Central to Richmond - near to venue I was attending
Pleasant riverside location. Location. The view form the bed is wonderful. Location, price. the view. This hotel was very quirky with character and interest. Certainly different from the national chains which can be clinical and samey.location, price. Going home!. Can be noisy if you have a road-side room. No lift. Bed needs to be refurbished ( noisy springs), taps are also a bitexhausted. It needs a lick of paint and new carpets but it didn't put me off as it was very clean.it was a bit pricey... car parking was limited. You need to get lucky to secure a space.I could not open the door nearest room 415 when I returned at about 11.30pm on Saturday night. I could open the door by Reception. It was fine. Breakfast was a bit of a disaster. Cooked breakfast had to be ordered 24 hrs in advance - we weren't there and they'd run out of things when we got down to breakfast at 9.30. The rooms were a bit drab and very noisy, you could hear everything in the rooms next door. The TV only had 2 channels available that you could actually view, the rest were all just snowy. If you wanted a cooked breakfast you needed to know and pay for it the day before instead of at breakfast.no lift or porterage service -our room was on the top floor. Decor was a little tired.parking is a big problem. Bathroom accessed from the hallway, in need of a good decorator. The hotel was reconstructed nearly 20 years ago and some of the rooms badly need some work. Cooked breakfast: was not given choice by waitress, fried breakfast provided was very fatty. For long trip from abroad, I had heavy large suitcase. Very muchexhausted in order to carry it upto 4th floor without no elevator.Itwould be helpful if information available in advance. Wi-Fi internettouble to connect pc in spite of new facilities. Very basic-although reflected in price. A slight aroma about the place. The bedroom and corridors are much in need of refurbishment. The bathroom was very poor tatty mastic joint round the bath, bath panel broken at corners and many other poor finishes. No on suite. Unlike most hotels or indeed BandB there is no provision for ironing to be done in the room. A designated ironing room is provided but this is effectively in the bolier room and does not have proper flooring meaning items can drag on a concrete/dusty floor. It is also very uncomfortable due to heat. Overall Standard of maintenance - although it is reflected in the price. sheet on my single bed was too small and came off in the night. We've stayed here several times and the curtains are a;ways hangingoff the rails!!! This time the toilet roll holder was also hangingoff the wall!. Didn't realise many rooms are not en-suite. Hotel smelt of damp. There was a very unpleasant smell in the room and this was worse in the bathroom. I am rather apalled by the standard of the hotel given the location and price. The room was of fair standard, but not the bathroom. Old and tired, poor quality finish to the tiling. The hotel in general needs a large financial investment to bring it up to a standard expected for the room rate asked.the room was very old, needs lots of updating, parking was terrible, breakfast rubbish. Most hotels offer hypo-allergenic bedding now. I left early and had to ring the bell in reception in order to check-out with the night porter. My friends checked out later and were told that I had left without paying and were they going to settle my bill. I am not impressed.

Hotel information details
Our gardens take you down to the Thames embankment where pleasure craft can take you to many places of historical interest, including the ancient coronation town of Kingston, Hampton Court Palace and the famous Teddington Locks. There are many beautiful walks along the river, such as to the enchanting village of Petersham across the meadows, or a little further along to Ham Common with its entrance to Richmond Royal Park and its herds of roaming deer. Despite the fact that little now remains of the Royal Palace, frequented and lived in by many members of the Royal Family and nobility up to the 17th century, Richmond is still steeped in its Royal history, with many of the fine stately homes in use and visited by the public. Hobart Hall was by contemporary standards one of the smaller houses, but nevertheless has many interesting associations with that period.
