It was in a little village away from the crowds. Close to some lovely walking tracks. There was a separate lounge/dining area. Dinner and breakfast available if required - In fact, I didn't expect a good place before I arrived. But it was such a surprise! In a really small and original village in the north of peak strict.

Very friendly check-in. Youth hostel looks very smart, toilet and shower in our room were spotlessly clean and looked quite new. Room M8 in the mews was quiet and stayed nicely cool thanks to shade from the trees outside. We liked the courtyard outside the mews with benches/tables. Beds were OK. Breakfast was lots better than expected at only £5 p... what people say » er person with choice of three juices, cereal, full cooked breakfast, fresh rolls, cheese (!!!), yoghurt, fruit etc. Nice outdoor sitting area outside - It was a pleasure to stay at this former manor house. It was particularly interesting to live in the original part of the house, where it made one feel a little bit like in older days. The hostel has a big, well equipped kitchen and a nice small library. The location is very convenient – around 10min walk to Castleton, 25min to Hope and the surrounding park is beautiful. There are also special attractions for the kids in the park, which makes it a good destination for families.

I took my daughter to gullivers and stayed at Harrington which was quite good. The only down side was after booking my room it turned out I was a woman with no children..?.. So I rang and after being told they could move me to another room at a slight extra cost I said yes... 2.5 times the price later I'd been moved to a 4 bed bedroom.. Needless t... what people say » o say a slight increase wasn't slight and the booking site didn't ask if I was a male of female so how I ended up in the woman dorm ill never know. Ov - Rooms for 4 are a good size (in the Barn). The location is fantastic for family and serious cycling - small details such as spare locks to rent make a difference. The food on offer is very good, substantial and excellent value. lounge and library have warming fires and an old fashioned atmosphere. Hartington bitter on tap! The village pub (not hotel) has super food too. And the local scenery. What's not to like?
