The location couldn't be better,nor could the owners; who made us feel very welcome.....almost like friends. The room was spotless, and comfortable; breakfast was fantastic, and served with a smile, and polite conversation. Can't say enough good things. It was my girlfriend and my first trip away together, and they were part of making it so special.We WILL be going back.....often. Brilliant place to stay,close to the beach and town,bus and train stations.Plenty of places to eat just around the corner.Christine and Nigel keep the place spotless,and are so friendly and helpful,feels like we've know them for years,and the breakfasts are cracking! Will definately be going back next year.
all reviews » Small room but very clean, tidy and good tea/coffee making facilities. Good hosts and very obliging as I had to leave earlier than they served breakfast but they insisted on serving breakfast before I left. Nigel recommended a meal at the harbour pub and this was a very good for £5. I liked the fact that the owners made you feel welcome by calling you by your christian name and giving you advice on best places to eat etc. and in my grandson's case where to catch the best crabs. I would most certainly stay there again. Christine and Nigel were extremely welcoming and attentive. The place was warm and comfortable and the breakfast which was chosen from a varied menu, was more than adequate, very well cooked and beautifully presented. Staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help us. Delicious breakfast with wide variety of options. Spacious and comfortable rooms. Good location, very short walk to shops and pier. There was nothing I didn't like about Birklands Guest House. The lighting at the top of the stairs was not adequate and could be dangerous for less agile people. No other complaints. Have to pay £3.50 a day for car parking in nearby pay and display. No Yogurt at breakfast. We left the window open for a bit of air & it was a bit noisy. Just a minor one. no parking at guest house have to park in nearby street or at car park. nothing apart from having to go home !!. No issues at all. The wifi connection was very poor. The shower only just warm, even on the highest setting A small bar of soap would have been good. Bathroom door had glass in.but they said they are still up dating rooms. The WiFi Signal was useless. Occasionally if you managed to log on, the first selection I made the signal was too weak to connect. N/a. Not being able to park outside... nothing. nothing. nothing. nothing.

Parking is available in a car park nearby at a concessionary rate and permits are available from the guest house.
