I wanted for my partner and myself -isolation, comfort, a relaxing environment, friendly and thoughtful staff, excellent value for money and for my partner (whom this was a surprise) to be whowed!! Otterburn achieved every requirement and we are now planning to be regular visitor's. Thank you. . This is the best hotel I've stayed in ever. The staff and general nature of hotel made our stay very relaxing and romantic. The jacuzzi was amazing on a sunday morning followed by breakfast and a sit around the wood burning fire with a cup of tea.
all reviews » This hotel was superb we had a wonderful relaxing break. I cant fault anything from the room, the location and the excellent staff we had a memorable weekend. We will be returning. The room was very nice and Jacuzzi was an excellent touch - heating wise the room was a bit cold but an extra heater had been put into the room to help with this. The whole stay experience was very good. The grounds offered good walks. The open fires were lovely and the staff accommodating and friendly. the staff were very friendly, with excellent service given. we were fortunate to have a quiet time as there were few other guests present. Staff excellent, jacuzzi in room (wow!!), lovely setting, traditional interior. Overall, this represented fantastic value!!. Beautiful room and fantastic bathroom. The friendliness and welcome of the staff; the hotel itself was individual and didn't feel like a "hotel chain" hotel; the meals were a delight (particularly the braised beef); the room was splendid and the grounds of the hotel made the drive up to it feel magical as we arrived after dark. Overall, despite minor flaws, it was wonderful. It is decorated to the highest level, log fires in lounge areas,morning papers, peacefull atmosphere. Service at breakfast was a bit faulty towers but we were in no rush so it didn't bother us too much. The shower head wasn't fixed properly but it was noted by staff for repair. bed was a bit firm to be honest. would have preferred not to have set menu and portions were a bit small. The evening menu wasnt upto my partners tastes. We throrougly enjoyed our stay but were dissappointed with regards to the restaurant. There was little choice for not too reasonable a menu. We were given our starters within 10 minutes of being in the restaurant, even before we had receved our wine. Our main came out 3 moniutes after the starter plates were taken away. The food was ok but the service was too speedy. The only problem was that I didn't want to eat in the restaurant and the bar only serves meals until 6pm ~ it was about 7pm when I checked in. We were told we could order room service if we didn't want to go into the village to eat (served until 10pm) but when I phoned an order in at 9.45 I was told that room service was not available to those people staying in the Coach House.there was no mini bar, also lack of welcome pack!. Attending the weddiing on the day we thought that more information aboutthe timetable and order of proceedings would have been beneficial.Restaurant staff was a bit lost. As there was a large function on in the main dining room we were in the small room. The staff tried their best but as some were agency staff they didn't know what table was which and the wrong food was put on the wrong tables. Some people didn't get their drinks which were order and bread plates, butter and unused cutlery were not removed. It did get quite funny but some guests were rather annoyed. Power points in the room were difficult to reach and there were too few of them; Bathroom - the position of the toilet roll holder restricted space in that area; the radiator in the bathroom (which was beautiful) either didn't work, or wasn't connected, so the bathroom was too cold when showering; there was no waste bin in the room itself and no info in the room, or on the TV about facilities. The public bar is decorated ultra modern if it had been kept to the rest of the public rooms it would have more comforting and inviting.The hotel wasnt quite ready for guests after a massive refurbishment few things still need sorting, but was still a lovely place to stay and will go again. the expense of the food which was of minimal choice. No cold water available in room and although advertised with complimentary fruit bowl fruit was not provided. No biscuits in room. Lack of private Toilet facilities in room. String screen as toilet door,although very chic and no doubt part of the designers grand idea relieson customers being comfortable performing these acts with a completelack of privacy,. Lack of guests. We were the only guests for dinner on night 1 and as such there was a general lack of atmosphere in the hotel. lack of privacy when on the toilet. The room was lovely although bit on the small side to what we expectedthe shower screen was also broken which when my partner used the showerit flooded the bathroom.But apart from the stay was nice.The food (room service) wasn't great but the full english breakfast was good. Quite cold public rooms. Very cold bar area.Not that I went to watch the TV however the short period of time I tried to use it was frustrationg the reception here was poor.

The hotel is situated in wild Redesdale at the heart of the beautiful Northumberland National Park. The hotel owns an 8 mile stretch of the River Rede, ideal for fishing the salmon and trout that are native to this part of Northumberland.

Walkers have a great choice with the Pennine Way close by and many miles of footpaths open to them. Various team-building activities can be arranged as special breaks. The delights of Kielder Water and Forest Park are only 17 miles away, with water sports, sailing, birds of prey, swimming and many other activities available.
