The Whipper-In was a pleasant surprise. The room was incredibly cosy and beautifully decorated with names given not numbers. The staffs were friendly and I certainly will return to this hotel if I'm in this area again.The staff were extremely helpful in providing directions to local attractions etc, a bowl of liq allsorts greeted us at reception along with very friendly faces. The hotel has a very relaxed and friendly feel to it.

The room was charming, with large cupboard/hanging space. The meals (breakfast and dinner) were good too.The friendliness of all the staff we came in contact with and the hotel's central location in the town. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable.A fine base for the surrounding area, helpful staff especially when the bedroom door lock/key jammed and also with tourist info. Breakfast and dinner excellent.I've stayed here many times, an it's always reliable without being fancy. Good place in a great little town. Comfortable room,old coaching inn with modern touches. comfort of room. the chef should be highly recommended ,all the food was excellent.Room was great, good breakfast,very welcoming staff.Large clean room with very comfortable Bed. Good position close to Crown House where my Father is resident. Staff very helpful.Central location. Good quality food at evening dinner. central location. food was excellent in quality and presentation. The dead animals or rather the stuffed ones. Whoever came up with the idea must be shot like the animals themselves. It's bad Feng Shui and I left a note for the hotel about it on leaving. Please have them removed. Any Oriental guests will tell you it's bad for business but again it needs an Eastern eye to see it that way.The room walls were quite thin and we could hear the cleaners outside our room walking up and down the corridors quite early. It sounded as though they were in the room with us! As much as I liked this hotel for that reason I wouldnt stay for longer than one evening.There was no shower curtain, or fitment to hold the showerhead from the bath taps which meant effectively only bathing, not showering, was available. The set dinner menu was the same for both days.the only thing I would fault was the location of the car park away from the hotel. Because of insufficient numbers (?) the dining room was not in use and the bar/dining area whilst adequate had a milk bar "feel".Showers could be better. Room,s in general were noisy. Room with open fire could be made cosier by moving chairs+ lighting is poor.Showe could have been better.No Lift and top floor room. The breakfast on first morning was awful, complaint made and improved food thereafter.tired!. lounge bar was a bit dark and very quiet.
