The location of the hotel although being outside the main centre of newquay was ideal as Tolcarne beach was on the doorstep. On arrival we were allocated room 9 which is probably the pick of all the rooms due to the lovely balcony overlooking Tolcarne Beach. The hotel is spotless, as are the rooms with soft clean white towels and comfy beds. The rooms are first class. I was very impressed with the Staff, from the time I arrived we were made very welcome from Eilleen, Micheal, then Joseph was excellant, nothing was a problem, basically all then staff where professional and are a credit to the Hotel. I will be coming back next year with my family and will be letting friends and family know how good our stay was, thank you.
all reviews » I had a lovely stay. Admit I wasn't expecting much for £20/night but was very pleasantly surprised and would definitely stay again. Very good pricing, warm, comfortable room, very clean, hot and effective shower, New flat screen TV, Very friendly and helpful staff, lovely view, efficient and thorough servicing of room. Friendly efficient check-out. The staff were welcoming and friendly. On a number of nights there was entertainment, although I did not attend those evenings. There was a separate tv and pool room. Location of the hotel, particularly if you're a surfer, as the beach is opposite and down the stairs. The price I paid (£168 for 7 nights) was excellent. We loved the location, over looking the Atlantic. Our room had the greatest view, and the Hotel was just a short walk to shops, The Hop On, Hop Off train and bus stop were outside the front door. The staff were very helpful and we enjoyed all the meals that we had, the dinner menu's were varied an very well priced. The sea view room was really nice. Exceeded our expectations. Everything was really clean, the staff were very helpful and the breakfast was excellent value for money. The location was perfect. Opposite the beach and just far enough from the centre to avoid noise but close enough for it to be under a 5 min walk. The staff were great, always ready to help and so polite. For the money it was excellant and the food was good and very well presented. The waiters were excellant, as were all the staff, nothing was too much trouble. The location couldnt have been better. The staff were very helpful we are keen cyclists and they were happy to accommodate our two bikes in a safe area at the back of the hotel this sometimes can be a problem with hotels. There is plenty of choice of cereals, fruit etc but the full english breakfast was a slight let down as it was on the small side and slightly undercooked. There was nothing I did not like I thought every thing was just perfect. These are very minor points and would not prevent me staying again. Windows could do with a clean on outside to make the most of the fabulous view! One of the bulbs blew above the bed and took out all the room lights so maybe the fitting needs looking at (Room 35). The pigeons in the loft space above room 54. The tv had to be setup each time it was turned on, or started from stand-by. The cracked sink and bath (covered with duck tape) and the torn shower curtain. The tv and shower curtain is easily fixed, so they may have done that already. Nothing. Could do with up dating, however for the price we paid I have absolutely no grumbles. The tv had very bad reception and the channels were mixed up. The hotel is what I expected - good value for money - I've used it before. Apart from the dining room, other public areas are a bit worn and dingy albeit clean. water in my room tasted a little funny, but did not make me feel ill. There is nothing to dislike. At least during my stay, it was "overwhelmed" with a large group of people on a bus tour. That makes sense for the hotel, obviously, but for a single traveller that can be annoying. the rooms were slightly noisey in the mornings. Bedrooms could do with fans when weather is very hot. The wifi was -very- bad. the decoration the comfort of the bed. Toiletries supplied were not up to the standard we would expect. Rather poor sound proofing so one could hear people talking next door and their bathroom activities. Cant find any complaints at all. I found it a bit to commercialised and the rubbish bins or lack of them were a problem, thus making the streets grubby. Wheely bins might be the way to go, expensive at first to impliment but a tidier outcome. Seagulls tear open the plastic bags thus adding to the clean up. The breakfast was ok but not great, the bacon was rather dry and hard but, again, I cannot fault the service. The waiting staff were polite and courteous. Decor in bedroom but dated although I expected it as I checked travel adviser pillows were flat and hard not comfortable to sleep on if I stayed again I would bring my own. nothing. A bit "tired" but clean. Nothing bad to say. Slightly tired exterior, but doing its best inside with clean, non-worn carpets. Breakfasts were a bit of a 'lottery', with large groups taking over from smaller parties/ single guests. Nothing. nothing bad to say. Breakfast a bit dry and overcooked. breakfast was a little sparse but otherwise okay.
