Standing alone at the entrance to Lynmouth’s stunning harbour, this picturesque 18th-century building houses en suite accommodation with superb views of the sea, the river or the Lyn Valley.
With a unique waterside location, the Rock House is situated in Lynmouth, one of North Devon's most picturesque villages. Lynmouth lies at the mouth of the Lyn River, with Exmoor and the town of Lynton towering above. The village is surrounded by the stunning scenery and the natural beauty of the Exmoor National Park. In Victorian times, Lynton and Lynmouth were fondly known as Little Switzerland.
The Rock House makes a great base from which to explore the region’s great walks; along the rugged North Devon coastal path; through woodlands alongside the Lyn River or across the rolling moorlands of Lorna Doone country.
Free private parking is possible on site.
Every room is en suite and has central heating. Each room has a TV, a hairdryer, an alarm clock and tea/coffee making facilities. All of the rooms are attractive and furnished to a high standard. Some rooms have four-poster beds.
All rooms have superb views of the sea, the river or the Lyn Valley.
The candlelit harbour-side restaurant has wonderful views of the sea and offers intimate dining, complemented by a selection of fine wines.
The fully licensed bar overlooks the hotel’s picturesque garden, where lunches or cream teas can be enjoyed in fine weather.

The staff were really friendly, if you needed anything you just had to ask, nothing was to much trouble. The food was excellent and always really hot. There is a very good breakfast menu. The rooms have good view of either the harbour or sea. The hotel occupies a great location.
food was always lovely and nicely prepared, eg bacon and sausage for breakfast was good quality, and evening meals nice. Easy location to visit exmoor and surrounding places of natural beauty. Easy to get to shops and on the edge of the harbour.all reviews »
We loved every thing about Lynmouth especially the walk up to Watersmeet house by the river and the picture of the terrible flood in the local church, the position of the hotel is excellent and the view and sound of the river/tide is to die for.
We enjoyed our stay, the staff are friendly, always smiling and very helpful. Rock House is in a beautiful spot. We enjoyed sitting in the gardens with a drink and watching the world go by, very relaxing holiday.
Everything!!! Views from rooms fantastic. Staff friendly and helpful. Bar and restaurant great plus garden area and being so close to everything was good. Would definitely use again.
The little shops, walking the beach and watersmeet to the coffee shop.

Nothing.
pillows were very hard and I had to go and buy one in a shop which was softer, also bed was very hard.
Parking a little scarce.
There was absolutely nothing not to like.
Nothing.
There was no duvet cover, but sheets and blunkets instead, which I personally don't like as they are falling apart and stuck under the mattress. :).
Would have liked a wider choice of evening menu.
The shower showed slight mildew on tiles.
No toiletries i.e. soap, shower cap or flannel provided.
The parking was a bit tight for our big 4x4 but we appreciated having a space.
nothing.
The entrance hall/reception area is a bit tired and dated.
Can't think of anything.
The hotel car park is tiny and cannot accommodate 8 cars, i.e. 1 per room. It is approached via a narrow hedge-lined path which you have to reverse along for 100m. Owners of large cars beware!.
Car parking. Much too cramped. I used the street parking in Lynmouth itself, which was a few paces across the footbridge over the river Lyn. Parking is unrestricted overnight between 6.0 pm and 10.0 am.
Much more satisfactory.
