  I loved everything about the hotel. Every member of staff was reallyhelpful and quite lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. The bookingout time of 12 noon was realistic and breakfast between 7 and 11 wascertainly more civilised than some hotels.   Jamal met us at the flat - very simple check in process. Having an allocated parking spot was fabulous. A bit of a walk to use the lift, but worth it with luggage. The location was fabulous - so close to restaurants, shops, and attractions. Also, close to Sainsbury. The location is second to none in York. The apartment was superb, eberything a family would need.   We were amazed! Not wanting the formality of a hotel and having stayed in luxury apartments in coastal resorts for our summer holidays we thought we would try The Lawrance. Only two words can described our feelings when we unlocked the door - absolutely fabulous! We visited York with my parents & this 2-bedroom apartment suited us much better than two separate hotel rooms, as it provided a social space (kitchen, dining table, sofas and TV) Incredibly convenient for walking to key places in York; train station, the Shambles, the Minster and, highlight of the trip for my husband, the National Rail Museum. The lovely Heather at reception is also wonderfully helpful :)

  The Hostel was located near Nunnery Lane Car Park which was great because I could leave my car overnight between 6pm to 8am the next morning for just £2.This was important because I was leaving early next am to drive to Castle Howard to work. I would definitely stay h - everything,from the warm welcome,taking care of our bags,being close to town,lovely room,nice and clean, comfy beds,brilliant breakfast,and secure place to keep our luggage so we could squeeze every last minute out of our holiday,and only five minute walk from railway station, and only a few feet away from the entrance to the medieval walls....altogether a brilliant place, a added bonus we loved was all the fun plaques outside each bedroom,it brought history alive.

Didn't really know what to expect after reading some of the reviews but I found it very comfortable. Just check in and then you can come and go, there's no reception or leaving your keys. Comfortable room and bed, generous supply of tea, coffee, etc, and an excellent breakfast. Would definitely stay there again.

  The new managers had just taken over and had many issues to deal with. They made us feel very welcome and accomodated our needs well. The hotel needs some TLC but is comfortable and the rooms were adequate for the price. Overall, a nice place to stay near to the city (15 Min) walk or bus directly outside, generous parking area. - it was very hand... what people say » y for the city, the rooms were clean and comfortable. there was ample free parking . the rates were very good . this is a very basic facility, but I would stay again. there was some road noise but I suspect they are in a conservation area so double glazing is not possible
