  We had a lovely room overlooking Big Ben and Parliament. The view was so wonderful, the nights were spectacular watching the boats and the river lights. The weather was warm and balmy and the walks along the river embankment were spectacular. The hotel is in a perfect location, the staff superb and the service top notch.   Everything! Everything was fabulous!! We were met from our taxi by the doorman who asked our surname, which he repeated into his lapel. We walked through the revolving doors and were met by a lovely lady who greeted us by name and showed us the hotel and finally to our room. Even though our room was at the front the shutter system meant we had virtually no noise or light at night, so we had a good nights sleep. Originally we booked 4 nights in another central London hotel, but we were very displeased with that hotel's room condition and the way their personnel attended to our complaints. This is a hotel I - The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, even though we arrived much later than anticipated. The room was very clean, comfortable and quite luxurious. The location of the hotel was fantastic for us. It was within walking distance of many great restaurants, shops and tourist attractions without it feeling too hectic. The transport links were also very good and only a 3 minute walk away. I cannot wait to stay at the Flemings Mayfair again.

  I'd never stayed at The Athenaeum before but I will be back. Although I booked a standard double at a very deep discounted rate (typically this means getting the box room next to the staff quarters), I was given an apartment room which was really a suite.
