The upgrade to a suite; the surperb meal served at Dinner: the well trained, efficient and friendly staff, the sea-front location: first class Spa.I hae stayed in this hotel before when it was under different ownership. Mercure has improved the quality of stay in every department.. The staff were polite and helpful. The spa was lovely. The room was very comfortable. The breakfast was hot and there was a great variety.

Nice bathroom with a proper window so none of those awful whirring extractor fans, soft linen, good toilettries, tea and coffee etc. Roomy, great view onto gardens. Blissfully quiet. We got a great deal on LetsBookHotel.com so good value too. The hotel has recently been decorated and is very clean. The rooms were very comfortable. The leisure centre was very nice, although needs decorating in places. The breakfast was fantastic - but should be for £15!. The Pool and Spa in The Hythe Imperial are very very good. We had them to ourselves for over two hours on a Saturday afternoon. Also the service in the hotel resturant is the bes i have ever come across. The staff were very friendly and the facilities were excellent. Good restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Good location on the seafront. Minor stuff, mattress was a bit too firm for me and the windows could have done with a clean! Apparently the place is due for a re-furb soon according to staff. Hope they don't change it too much though.There was only one snooker table which once booked was booked for the whole evening. Our bedroom windows overlooked the front of the hotel and there were two flood lights that stayed on all night lighting up the front of the hotel (And our room).We had to wait too long to be served in the bar. no but had little time tp try out the facililities. Nit picking a bit, bar seemed under staffed at times, and the buffet breakfast seemed a bit under stocked but was very nice. the hotel is a bit dated could do with modernising. Not enough hot water!! The shower was lukewarm, both in the earlyevening of Saturday at the spa and on Sunday morning. The receptionistwas into justification - "we are very busy", rather than apology.Theevening meal was ok, but some of the veg was pureed and thus ending uplooking a bit more like baby food than I'm sure was intended. As a tour guide I stay at hotels all over Europe (60+ a year) This hotel is 'tired', very much in need of the planned refurbishment. Our Lord Warden room had bits of the tap mssing, rthe windows needed repainting inside and a hadle mssing from the RH wardrobe - not 4* quality I expect. Food overall quite good, but supply problems at breakfast - eg no scrambled eggs for 15 minute period.In need of decoration. It should be possible to have a simple breakfast without paying the full buffet price. No air conditioning and poor hairdryer. "tired" decor, cracked tiles and mould in the bathroom, poor pillows. Restaurant closed too early. TV 50 years old? bathroom not very clean, plug dirty and not conected to sink. there was a dirty towel which had been folded and put back on the towel rail. not much choice on tv channels and room was quite chilly at first but warmed up. dining room freezing.

Coming from France or Dover, follow m20 and take Junction 11. When in Hythe, follow signs to Folkestone. For the Hythe Imperial turn right into Twiss Road. Free parking.
