Lovely room, friendly staff, good food. We had a very pleasant stay here with our 3 children in the familyroom. Next time we're in England we will go here again!. For example, the dining area ceiling looked as though it might fall down in one area, and the stair carpet leading to 'Leeds' is looking very tired.A litle tired but the staff more than compensated for that. The decor needs updating in the rooms.The bathroom could do with painting in a brighter colour. Rooms and facilities in need of update, there were obvious signs of decline. Mattress was extremely uncomfortable. Noisy extraction system could be heard in our room. just bed in Dover room, bit lumpy and creaky. 1. No food available for residents - not just us - hence comment about the cafe over the road. 2. Room right over the bar and its speakers plus people still drinking outside until the early hours was not conducive to a good nights sleep 3. We were unable to complain at the time as we were on an early tunnel crossing to France and were gone by 5.30am. The indicated price for a room accomodating 4 people is misleading. An extra charge of 5,-- per additional bed (2 beds) was added to our bill. The additional (fold up) beds are not really suitable for adults !. Room/ parts of Hotel a little tired- bathroom was poor. Toilet had pumped drainage which didn't work particularly well, shower could be better. Access from bar via stairs was poor. whole appearence was shabby and it didn't look clean, needs a lot doing to it!. The room was oversold as per the comments above. It was plainly unrealistic to describe it as a family room sleeping 4 when that was only achieved via Z beds and cots - That was not the description given. The staff on arrival were clueless, as the key had been lost and the room not prepared. Once over the initial hiccups, the stay was fine.

Our hotel consists of 6 en suite rooms and is an excellent base for exploring the countryside of Kent or a stop over for those travelling to the Continent. Room rates includes a full English breakfast.
Information about the area
Saltwood is a pleasant village situated on the outskirts of Hythe. There are beautiful walks round Saltwood, taking in the village green, timbered village hall, Norman church and not to mention its very own castle.
The Castle Hotel is within a mile of rail networks, access to the major motorway and the Channel Tunnel and ports of Folkestone are only minutes away. The old town of Hythe is within walking distance with the beautiful clean beaches a mere 5 minute drive away. Hythe boasts is own miniature light railway taking you all the way to Dungeness, stopping at New Romney and Dymchurch. Perfect for a family day out.

We provide 2 four-poster bedrooms, 2 double and 2 twins (singles will be discounted). Ironing and laundry are available on request.
Travelling information
By Car:
- Exit the M20 at junction 11.
We can arrange to have a taxi waiting for you at the nearest train station (Sandling Station), if you notify us of your expected time of arrival and where your travelling from. Journey time from the station to hotel is around 2 minutes and will cost on average 3 GBP. Trains to Sandling station are regular, averaging one an hour from Charing Cross and stopping at Tunbridge Wells and Ashford International.
A bus service runs through Saltwood from Ashford twice a day and from Folkestone at regular intervals.
