What people say
Location, location, location!
The room was lovely, bed huge and super comfy with nice linens.
The monsoon shower and double-ended freestanding bath made for a lovely romantic break.
The free Nespresso in the room is definitely worth having.
The general feel and ambience location of the place was right. Staff very good as was the value and great location and view. We will be back! Normally book with Mr and Mrs Smith. This was as good if not better?. all reviews »
Loved the location and general ambience of the hotel. The facilities and extras in the bedrooms were well above average. Food was great but service let the dining experience down a little.
Excellent central location and easy parking. Lovely views, very quiet. Excellent bar and courtyard. Fabulous shower and very spacious room. Very comfortable bed. Very good food.
The staff; friendly, helpful, no effort to do something for you. Made us feel as if we were the only ones there. We felt as if we had known them for a long time.
-The Bar – Good selections of drinks and the bartender was both
passionate about the things that matter.
- The Bed – Very comfortable
- Free WiFi – A nice touch.
The hotel had style comfort and nothing was to much trouble for staff to deal with. An excelent experience all round, would definitley go there again.
The Rooms were very well presented and I credibly clean. The general
Ambience was perfect and the staff were helpful albeit non of them
were British.
We loved the ambiance of the hotel.
Fabulous room, lovely breakfast and a great location, very convenient for our Christmas shopping!
We'll be back!.
The general facililties. The parking outside. Checkin. The free Independent. The location near to town centre. Fresh milk in the fridge.
Lovely room and lovely hotel in very central location. Nice amenities - particularly liked in-room espresso machine and loved the bathroom.
Staff were amazing. Had 3 rooms booked. Split between my wife and I, her parents and her grand mother. Nothing was too much trouble.
The staff and services provided were excellent. The dinner was excellent and all of the decorating hit the right spots.
Private dining. Excellent sommelier enhancing our experience at the
series 60th party - nothing was too much trouble.
The location is great, staff were excellent. Room was spacious and the shower and bath were fantastic.
Friendly staff...chatty and informative...good parking..close to attractions and shops.
All of it , staff very good and friendly
good food , rooms , shower one of the best.

Excellent location.
The beds are extremely large and comfortable and the staff were excellent.
The hotel design and spacious rooms. Staff were very helpful and friendly.
Lovely hotel; warm welcome; staff very helpful; bistro very good.
The room was in the basement and had it's own front door.
Location, staff, decor, menu and wine list were great.
Location, the building , parking, good view, bathroom.
Nice welcome. Lovely, quiet room. Good supper.
Good resturant and staff, good location.
Stylish hotel in an excellent location.
Great rooms. Nice atmosphere.
Exceptionally good service.
Relaxed atmosphere.
Loved the bathroom.
Great atmosphere.
Bedding.
When I complained about the room I was given a 25% discount and an
apology. The position of the hotel is brilliant for all the shops and
restaurants in the centre.
Nice ambience - nice buzz in the lounge. Good breakfast - but wiatress didn't make it clear that the a la carte breakfast was included in our rate.
We loved the Location the staff were extremely helpful. We had dinner in the Restaurant and thought the food and service were really good.
location is good close to some excellent eateries and pubs and ideal for shopping. good parking arrangments. reception staff excellent.
Always a good standard. Always varies somewhat from one visit to the next pending the room allocated.
The view across the Stray is a delight and watching the world go by. Close to town centre.
Late checking out time (11.00am).
Staff pleasant & attentive.
Nicely situated in centre of Harrogate and pretty good on price.
massive drench shower
bedding really comfy.
General atmosphere of the rooms.
Good size room, good bathroom.
Good location. Parking.
Lovley bar restaurant.
Location and bathroom.
location
room
bar.
Parking handy but there's an ncp multi-storey just down the road
that is a better price.
If paying by debit card they charge an additional £50 refundable deposit on check in which is inconvenient if in a budget. Would have liked to have been aware of this in advance.
Rooms very tiny bit tired in need of some refurb. Our blinds were broken etc.
The basement rooms although competitively priced were quite noisy from people walking across the bar above. The staff were not well trained. Check-in and check-out were both painfully slow which when on business is a little frustrating. Some of the staff could not even speak enough English to take a breakfast order!.
Expensive room rates with no breakfast! Saw staff topping up mini shower gels and shampoos. Bathroom and floor very dusty and not very clean.
Nothing.
-The view from the window. -The lack of free water (Most other luxury
brands supply this.) -The design of the shower, it looked more prison
than hotel.
The cooked breakfast was sub standard. We felt like our order hadnt been
cooked for us and it had been done the night before.
Paying £10 for parking. The lack of space around the bed in our room. The lack of biscuits compared to tray at Malmaison Edinburgh. Awkward access to the room and past the screen to the shower. The manager sat on the computer while we queued for checkout.
A bit noisy as we were underneath the hotel lobby but we were forewarned and it didn't stop us sleeping.
Not really a problem with the property. My Sat Nav had me driving in circles around the hotel and locating it a block from the true location.
I don't understand why our overnight stay cost £15 extra to our
friends (mr & mrs Rudd) when they had exactly he same food and a
better room - a puzzle to me - we both booked on line.
Slight disappointment that the Prawn & Crayfish Cocktail was warm. Also, a friend had an issue with the scallops being chilled on the inside.
No airconditioning and noisy with windows open...but we we're there during an unusually warm week!...
Aloof bar staff and £4.50 for a bottle of beer.
The meal in the bistro was not the standard we expected. The crab starter was sloppy in texture. The lemon sole did not taste fresh, it also had a strange texture and the sauce on it was mostly butter. The hot grapes were different but okay. We felt it was overpriced, had it been of good or better quality we wouldn't have minded quite so much.
Extra supplement for a cooked breakfast.
Not to the same standard as they used to be. I feel I know need to find a new hotel chain as the last two occasions have been below previous standards.
Nothing!.
Curtains wouldnt close properly; the decoration was ired- needed a re-pain and re-fresh.
The room was directly under the reception and although we were warned
that there might be noise I was not prepared for the constant tip-
tapping of high heeled shoes above us as late as 3am.
Nothing bad to say.
The bar, the drinks menu to pretentious.
No breakfast included. Paying for car parking (£10 for one night).
bathroom had drain smell issue, interior of room tired, didn't feel totaly clean.
Mattress was very hard, stayed in brown brothers room constantly heard the front door banging shut.
We did early bird dinner and did not get the free carafe of wine even after asking about it.
Food was not as good as I thought it was going to be. I had to change one course as it was unedible!.
Room decor / furniture.
The carpet in our room was badly worn, the luggage wrack was ripped, the
bulb in the desk light had blown and the window was filthy. It was no
where near the standard required for £195 a night.
Bedrooms need to be renovated - they're looking very tired now.
Our room. I think the Hotel Du Van chain really need to up their game. Our carpet was threadbare, there was no extra touches in the room at all. The bathroom hadn't been cleaned very well. Faded glory.
The cost compared to other quality accomodation in Harrogate is high. The bar prices are exhorbitant. The bathroom mirror was too high, my wife is 5'3' not perticularly small but still could not get close to it because of depth of sink, no alternative. i.
Staff are often pleasant but also sometime quite rushed and rude if they are having a bad day.
I was not too impressed with the continental breakfast - no hams, cheeses etc - for £13.00 rather steep and would not opt for B&B next time. Saturday night/Sunday morning revellers were a pain!.
Room already looking dated, not that much of a wow factor that I was hoping for given the price. Shame.
We had a basement room and the noise at mealtimes was rediculous it was like a heard of elephants above.
room smelt of paint
window didn't open far enough.
Breakfast was slow, wrong things brought to us, breakfast cold and not tasty like I had had in York hotel du vin. When told reception on checkout didn't seem bothered.
Didnt like the noise when you stay in the basement from the restaurant above till, and starts again at 6am. Bedside lamps did not work on either side if bed.
Parking very tight.
Smell of lifts which were near the toilets.
Slow to have room cleaned.
The room hadn't been cleaned well with rubbish left in the room
toothpaste in the sink dust inch thick round all room.
Dust in bedroom was disappointing. Only continental breakfast included in room and breakfast package, extra fee for cooked breakfast. Parking fee seemed excessive when parking outside, not a secure car park.
service in Bistro was very poor
one meal never arrived waiting long time between courses .
