The food was well...... simply excellent, and while i was sitting in the lounge enjoying my point looking through a huge glass window at the sea, the view was stunning.....A perfect relaxing evening to an otherwise busy day....3*** ... yes.... 3*** service at 2** prices.. well pleased..... we have been there twice before. the owners are friendly and we were remembered which was nice.breakfast was excellent,choices were given. the bedrooms are very comfortable. the hotel is right by Gyllingvase Beach with an excellent view of the sea.would go again.It seemed like a 'cared for' family run hotel, set in a prime location. The two star rating does not do justice to this excellent hotel; It deserves better. We have no hesitation in recommending it and plan to return. We could not fault the hotel, excellent service, really nice rooms, comfortable, clean, beautiful views. The waitress service at breakfast was excellent, would stay if in the area again, highly recommended.It was beautifully situated with easy access to the sea. The single room was large and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was excellent. I liked the sea view and the balcony. I also liked how close the hotel was to the beach and the city centre.It was a really comfortable hotel with friendly staff and in a nice situation with beautiful views.. the room had a balcony which was lovely and we could see the sea.also very clean and great value. I liked the location, overlooking the beach, I liked the breakfast. It was in a quiet road. The food was excellent exceeding the 2* rating by a long way (Closer to a 4*!!!). You had to move if someone wanted to get past, particularly by the window seats as mst people wanted to enjoy the view - understandably. The vegetarian breakfast could have been better some very strange (tinned) mushrooms and it would have been nice to know that the eggs were free range.A missunderstanding about the room. Would have liked breakfast to run a little later. Lack of a lift but we managed the stairs ok. Breakfast begins too late if on a schedule (meeting to attend, coach or train to catch etc). Room was marketed as having a sea view. This is true but only if one stands up as the only window in the room is a roof light. This should be made clear when booking. But for this hotel would have scored excellent in all categories.Only one chair in room so only real option was to sit or lay on the bed. Bathroom was in what looked like a cupboard, although that was interestingly eccentric. Pretty weak shower.

By car:

- Continue straight at 2 mini roundabouts (still on the A39), then Gyllyngvase Road is the 5th turning on the right. We are situated on the right just before the seafront.
