It was very convenient for Exeter (Park and Ride) etc. We had two excellent stays at this hotel.the relaxed atmosphere. very good hotel. Food was excellent - breakfasts and evening meals. all reviews » The room was extremely comfortable and well laid out, with good storage facilities and plenty of room to move around. The bed was a very good size and again very comfortable. Not a major problem, but I would ask for a room at the back of the hotel if I go back there. The service in the restaurant was a bit slow but the staff were very apologetic and the food was worth waiting for. Going from one building to the other in bad weather. An enclosed covered way, is needed from the rooms all the way to the main building. This is difficult, I know, because of the road in between and the appearance to the front of the main building. May be something could be considered at the rear of both buildings for access during bad weather.it was very chilly in the morning and the general heating did not appear to be switched on so I could have done with a supplementary heater just to warm the room up until the outside temperature rose. I would have liked a fridge in the room, and the lack of certain channels (i.e. ITV1, Film4) on the television was a little disappointing. I would also like to say that having to go to the restaurant for breakfast was disappointing as in most hotels I have stayed in, you can eat within the hotel itself.only warm water to shower with on my first morning. The digital signal was poor throughout my stay so I could not receive all channels. I had to switch it off as it continually cut out. Internal walls very thin. Had to listen to the gentleman next door snoring!. once turning the bathroom light off fan ran for another 30 minutes. Very irritating if you need the bathroom during the night. No covered way from reception to the facilities ie eating and drinkingareas. Not good in the rain and windy weather.The room was small with old fashion wash facilities (wash basin in the bedroom). room was very small and it was too hot, I appreciate it had been a very humid day and a fan was provided but I could not get any freash air to circulate and therefore it was too hot to sleep. Small rooms, location on roundabout. booked as a double superior room but set up for one visitor. Complained to management about bathroom being more than just not clean; dangerously dirty. the rooms where to small like the bathroom. The initial impression from the website / photos was somewhat misleading as it gave the impression that visitors stayed in the Georgian building rather than the 'motel' type accomodation provided. The room was very hot and leads one to wonder whether the [flat?] roof was sufficiently well insulated? Road noise was also a strong adverse feature.The location. The noise. The inability to open a window to gain airbecause of the noise. The lack of air conditioning. Paper thin walls.Could hear everything from adjoining rooms. The walk to the breakfastarea through whatever weather. The lack of subtle bathroom lighting formiddle night visits, - only blinding, glaring option or pitch black! Theinability to hang clothing straight down. Their poor management of guest arrivals. They have no way of distinguishing between people with the same surname checking in.

Travelling information

M5 South Bound, come off at Junction 30. Stay in the middle lane following the signs for Exeter. Follow the road under the Motorway and go into the left-hand lane taking the next road off following the signs for Exeter City Centre and Dawlish. Keep on the dual carriageway and take the 3rd slip road linking you to another dual carrageway to the Countess Wear Roundabout. Go straight across the roundabout. Bear off right following signs for Plymouth and Torquay carrying on the duel carriageway and the Devon Hotel is on the left-hand side at the next roundabout. A38 from Plymouth/Torquay A38 from Plymouth/Torquay onto the Devon Expressway. Just after you reach the bottom take the slip road signposted for Marsh Barton and Exeter A379. Follow that road to the next roundabout and the Devon Hotel is on your right.
