What people say
The young male receptionist was the best receptionist I have ever met. He was friendly, helpful delightful to talk too.We arrived exhausted after an eventful day he was the most calming accommodating chap, nothing was too much effort for him.The room was excellent the bottled water and shortcake biscuits went down a treat. The breakfast was lovely served by two people who were so good at their job. all reviews »
We booked a midweek spa break and it was excellent - the room was huge and well appointed, we were spoilt for choice both breakfast and dinner and the food was cooked to perfection, the service couldn't be faulted and the spa treatments much appreciated. We would definately consider a return visit, but for more than one night next time....the room was very large felt like my partner and i were staying in an apartment,is easily the best hotel i have stayed in the last couple of months.will be back again. Staff were really friendly we had a flat tyre and a memeber of staff came out to help us in the rain so was impressed with the level of service!. Spacious bedroom and bathroom with a separate bath and shower cubicle, lovely swimming pool and leisure facilities, nice relaxed atmosphere. The Hotel facilities where excellnt, staff very accomodating, nice warm atmosphere. Food was beautifully presented and tasted delicious. The room, facilities and helpfulness of the staff were excellent. They even upgraded my room to the suite free of charge. The Hotel is an excellent location for chester and all the facilities were really good especially the breakfast!.Beautiful hotel in a beautiful area, staff very helpful and pleasant, would highly recommend this hotel. Pleasant surroundings, lovely hotel, excellent food and made to feel welcome by staff. The facilities were brilliant and it was a very relaxing environment. Everything! The hotel, food, staff and service was excellent. Very friendly staff, lovely size room, lovely grounds. Thought the room was excellent, with plenty of space and a nicewidescreen television. In addition we were able to use the swimmingpool, sauna and jacuzzi which were all excellent. The staff were very helpful and the standard of the hotel and restaurant were very good. Rooms were spacious--- plenty of hot water.High standards of the hotel and staff. facilities and comfort of room. The beautiful grounds. The peace and quiet.room. Spa. The hotel had a calm, relaxed atmosphere. The room was of a good size and the staff were friendly and efficient. We would definitely go back. Friendly and efficient staff. Excellent size room and layout. Good dinning facilities.Large room and bathroom, very comfortable and good leisure facilities. the peaceful surroundings and the spa. Enjoyed the peace and quiet, bar staff were friendly and rooms were amazing...would recommend. Check you bill though as things were on ours we never had, but mistakes happen and they never questioned me when I said it was wrong. Its wonderful character, fascinating building and artefacts, grounds well kept.
Use of spa was good.
Rooms were a good size, bath was huge!
I needed a needle and cotton and it was brought to my room within 5 minutes, thank you. We only booked the day before our arrival and when we arrived they had upgraded us to the Bridal Suite which was absolutely huge. The gym and pool area were fab and the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Food excellent. Very pleasant staff who were polite and very helpful. The room was excellent, spacious and clean.the price, spa, location. Being able to walk out into the enclosed courtyard from the bedroom was lovely. Staff were polite and helpful. The iron was missing from the room but only took staff minutes to replace and room service was reasonably quick. We only stayed one night on a later deal and we were given the bridal suite. Would deffinately stay here again. The location, grounds and breakfast being included despite ourreservation confirmation stating it was not. The genuine efforts the staff made to make sure we were well looked after. Spacious room, good bed and use of the Spa facilities. The room, the bath, the grounds, the leisure club/spa. Spaciuos rooms, very helpful staff, excellent food. Spa and swimming pool facilities were excellent. very pleasant room although too warm The bed probably one of the best I have slept in.. Hotel selected for its age, history and location and did not disappoint. peaceful surroundings, the size of the rooms, the public rooms, the gardens, provision of iron and ironing board. All the staff were warm and friendly at all times and nothing was too much trouble.very helpful staff, close to Chester and had a great day at the zoo. good friendly atmosphere and staff very welcoming and helpfull. The use of the pool and spa facilities was very good. massive room! fantastic location. friendly staff. the building and surroundings were beautiful. The Location and Olde Style of the buildings. The mattress was a little too soft for our liking, but apart from that we couldn't fault anything. small portions in the restaurant but 3 courses was enough for myself and husband just asked for extra rolls. As the restaurant is a conservatory it was a little cold however this would not be an issue in warmer months. Receptionist rather pushy to book dinner which we felt overpriced. The price of drinks very expensive. menu limited. Some need of repair to ceilings due to water leaks. No towelling robes provided although it offered spa facilities.the dinner set menu was disappointing compared to a previous stay. It was a little noisy at night by other guests but you find that wherever you go so this was not really a problem. The bed was a bit hard and the place could do with a lick of paint and new carpets but still great value for money and we would definately visit again. The double bed was, actually, two singles pushed together. The base was very hard and caused my back to ache badly. ther restaurant, firebell in the middle of the night for no reason!. Having to wait an hour for a bar meal which didn't come any where near the standard of the restaurant meal we had enjoyed on our first night. The bar food service was appalling. We waited 30 mins for a coffee andone hour for a pot of tea so we complained. The receptionist, however, offered us complimentary dinner which was the deciding factor in uschoosing to give the hotel another chance if we ever stay in the areaagain. The hotel was hosting a wedding which we guess the kitchen staffcouldn't cope with. Heated towel rail was cold and a dirty hand towel with dry mud was in bathroom on arrival. Some decor is dated, spa staff less than helpful. restaurant menu was too limited and we could not find anything to excite our taste buds,
I asked for Smoked fish for Breakfastwhich was bland, undercooked and tasteless . The plate was removed without questioning why I had not eaten it.I was surprised that there were no tissues, showercap, hair dryer or robe provided in the room. Their breakfast room and its arrangements were very poor indeed and need to be vastly improved.Very cold bar and resturante but snowing outside so understandable. The upholstery of some of the furniture in the room was in need of repair.not enough veg with your evening meal !. evening meal wasnt great and was served cold. The evening meal was expensive and not good value for money.
