Check in was easy and we were given an unexpected upgrade to an executive room overlooking the gardens. This was very comfortable, clean and quiet. We ate in the bar the first day which was good (but some vegetables would have been an added bonus!) Breakfast was taken in the very pleasant Restaurant, plentiful and well cooked.The evening menu looked good but we were out both evenings so didnt try.

When we were departing from the car park we couldn't get out due to an illegally parked car and the hotel staff went out of their way to successfully rectify the problem. The rooms were very spacious and comfortable. Very central location. We had such a pleasant time and will definately be returning in the near future.The receptionists were very professional on arrival and leaving. Advised of bar/restaurant in hotel and meal offer for that evening. All staff were very friendly. Station was directly opposite so could get anywhere and not too far to walk into the town. Advised also of places to go for a drink for our age group. Upon arrival we found we had been upgraded to a superb kings suite room which was four poster luxury. The breakfast was fantastic and service second to none. We did opt to eat out but on reflection wish we had eaten at the hotel. We look forward to staying again in the future.The en suite was spotless, I always use this a standards measure in each hotel that I say in. The Queen Hotel was top rate, the room was comfortable and again clean to a high standard. Staff attitude was first class, they where happy and professional in their work. Complimentary upgrade to the new Kings quarters area of hotel, which was within the new £80m refurb. Room was very nice, large flat screen tv, radio/cd/ipod hi-fi. Cooked breakfast was excellent with fresh buffet supplemented by any special requests. The staff were consistently pleasant friendly and efficient.The breakfast was a good quality. The refurbishment has been most worthwhile as the layout and decor were both relaxing and interesting. The hotel was very clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly, polite and helpful. My mother and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definately be staying at the Queen hotel again.A grand hotel in the old style but with modern comforts. What a magnificent staircase! Lovely breakfast served by pleasant staff. Overall experience was excellent. The staff were very helpful and had a happy attitude. The 8 year old son of my companion loved the roman statues the giant tortoise and the open air chess game.The staff were always very cheerful and helpful. As we arrived early by train we were able to leave our bags to go into town. Excellent buffet style breakfast. The room was fantastic, perfect for our needs. When we arrived the receptionist informed us we had received a complimentary upgrade to an exectutive suite.There wasn't really anything we didn't like. Would prefer to not to have separate charge for car park, but appreciate there was limited parking space, first come, first served.bathroom a bit smal. Having to pay for their car park. The cost of the meals and drinks at the bar. Could maybe have done with air conditioning.No soap in bathroom in spite of asking chambermaid. No.The shower didnt work.
