What people say
Excellent value for money; we (a family of four) paid the same amount to stay in this beautiful hotel as we had paid for a grotty bandB in Folkestone. Breakfast was superb. We also enjoyed unlimited use of the squash courts. Note that the hotel is due to close for refurbishment in January. The staff were so welcoming and friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was incredible and extremely good value for money. The views were amazing as was the hotel.all reviews »
the hotel is set in the middle of the countryside so very peaceful, the nearest town and good night life is just 10 minutes away. fantastic for those who want the best of both worlds!. The courtyard was marvellous and we enjoyed the space and availability of being able to sit outside in our own area.staff were very helpful. Visited the Cotswolds. Absolutely everything. Staff, decor, food.Location and quiet. Friendly staff. Excellent location, very friendly staff and superb breakfast buffet. The bed and bedding was very confortable. Shower was lovely too.Location for visits to cotswold area,An excellent center. Beautiful setting, Hotel very impressive.Location, ambience and style of hotel. The hotel was lovely - very quirky. Hotel and grounds are fantastic. The old world charm. Maintenance was obviously slipping (shower leaked through to the lounge, our friends door wouldn't open) BUT the hotel is stunning and the quality of the build and surroundings was excellent. Nearly everything - the staff, the room and the breakfast. I didn't eat in the restaurant any other time though. The staff were all very warm and friendly. The room was lovely and the hotel itself had so much character. Excellent location, the Hotel itself has lots of character and style.Nice surroundings and environment and good price. Lovely building, large room and interessting.Atmosphere, situation, exactly what I needed. Location, Location, Location. Staff helpful. Atmosphere, location and grounds. Magnificent old building. location and price. Views. The hotel is an old manor house and not at all like chain hotels. Rooms are comfortable and of a good size. Food is very good. The characteristic historic building of course, with excellent location and exceptional food.Character of hotel itself. It's placed in old mansion at rural area and we loved it. Friendly bar staff and food in the bar. very attractive building and location. Different style of room. character of the hotel. Peaceful location. The choice of food for breakfast was excellent as were the staff who served it. Quiet location, helpful staff, excellent restaurant at reasonable price. The age of the building and its character. An attractive hotel, reasonably priced. Wonderfull hotel full of character. the hotel and its surroundings. The building and surroundings. location, buildings, peace. Old building with charm. Nice building,. booked en-suite,toilet etc up 2 flights windy stairs we both have mobility problems, however staff changed our rooms, despite being fully booked. Bar a little expensive. As a historian I would of prefered some information on the history as it was supposed to be one of the oldest houses in Gloucestershire. Rather noisy plumbing when someone in a nearby room decideed to take abath or shower in the early hours!. Price of drinks were high. Staff marked down slightly as the bar could not provide malibu and coke or rose wine without a lot of discussion.... then we ended up with red wine.Would have liked a better selection for Continental Breakfast. Only little drawback, the Bathroom could have been a little bit betterequiped, shower(not everyone likes climbing the bath ) no hooks forhanging clothes, needed shelves for putting your toilet bags etc. Accessto the room was at first a bit difficult with suitcases, bags etc, butonce in I must admit the surroundings made up for it. Breakfast good, dinner expensive and poor. Not really for cost it was fine. Too little drawer space in room. Some signs of lack of maintenance. Receptionist could have been a little more friendly and welcoming, although totally efficient. Also, service behind the Bar (especially on a Saturday evening) was extremely slow due to the fact that there was only one member of staff on duty behind the Bar.We were in a hurry in the morning. After waiting 25min for our brakfast we had to cancel it (despite it was paid already), otherwise we would be late. It takes me max 15min to fix full english breakfast for 4. Not very good service :/. Food selection in the resturant. The evening dinner was very reasonably priced, but not very good quality. The breakfasts were good though. Bar prices. The low level of light in bedside lamps - poor for reading! The electronic key had to be re-programmed twice during the stay and it was a long treck from the room to get this done! The bathroom needs an up-date. Directions to room unclear - signs inconsitent so hard finding room first time! An enjoyable stay nevertherless!. We understand it is to be refurbished in the New Year - so N/A. Small room. Sone facilities, such as the bar were in need of updating. I gather the hotel is about to close for a £2m refit. Can't wait to see it afterwards. limited choice of main meal at the restaurant. Due for major refurbishment so difficult to judge fairly. the valentines menu was over-priced, the quality of the food was very poor. Low lighting-level in bedroom (room 1). Decor very poor in places,. Hotel in need of refurbishment. shower did not work properly.
