Breakfast was excellent and beautifully cooked. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel was central with parking which was great for the shops. Also there was a small but comfortable bar with tv. Everything. The staff were so helpful and they helped to make it extra special for my husbands surprise birthday.Great value for money and the breakfast was superb.We had another wonderful stay at the Clarence Court. We have stayed here quite a few times and will come back time and time again.

The Breakfast and the four poster!. I was on the top floor and so it was a pity that they have a lift which is not working and which I do not believe they will reinstate. Also the stairs could have done with a good hoover. difficulty of access for strangers to Cheltenhams one way(nightmare!) road system.The first room was smaller than we expected and so was the en-suite shower room. There was no communal lounge only a lounge bar. The shower in our room wasn't very warm and wasn't very powerful. This is the only thing we can think of that wasn't up to scratch.The lift was not available so we had to carry the case up 3 flights. Breakfast finished at 9am which was quite early so one of us missed it!. Shower did not empty properly.heavy going carrying bags up stairs. Tired furnishings, especially stair carpet. Lack of staff at reception and bell did not work!. separate shower to bath would have been preferable. Bad traffic due to roadworks in area. no lift or stair lift. slightly difficult to find - in a square but has no number so satnav took us to general location only. The room was a bit on the small side. I had an accident and spilled coffee which went over a couple of towels and the duvet cover. Housekeeping informed me that if the coffee didn't come out then I would have to pay for the linen. Accidents happen!. The bathroom was adequate but a bath would have been nice.There wasn't much service in the bar on the afternoon we arrived. no handrail on entrance steps. Hotel was undergoing refurbishment of bar but this was not stated at the time of booking. Bathroom in need of undating. It was disappointing that the decor in the bedrooms was a bit shabby and old-fashioned. In my room the wallpaper was peeling and there was a very threadbare armchair which just looked scruffy. some of the carpets were worn and fixed with gaffer tape - not a good look!. Surprisingly, there was no form of heating in the bathroom ( room 10). Perhaps a lift to 2nd floor would have helped a little, but it stillwould nt stop me from staying at the hotel.Reception staff not always there but eventually appeared. DVDs available for free hire at reception. Would be easy to have a DVD player in each room but there was not one in mine so watched on a laptop which I had with me.the stair carpets are an accident waiting to happen.

From m5 South - Exit at Junction 11, follow signs to town centre. At the lights in Promenade, bear left, then right, passing Bus Station on your left. Follow one way system past 'Littlewoods' on your left and 'Boots' on the right. Stay in left lane (the road bears round to the right).
You want to go straight on (you will see a sign for Clarence Square and Hotels). Continue straight across at the lights, past North Place car park. At the end of the road, turn left and take the first right into Clarence Square. The hotel is situated on the right.

From m5 North - Exit at Junction 10 and follow Tewkesbury Road, straight through lights and roundabouts. Under railway bridge and bear left past Post Office building on left. Straight on past Matalan on your left. Take next left onto Monson Avenue. At the end, turn right, then take the second left into Clarence Square. The hotel is on the right.
